Bell, Lee and Summerbee statue | Unveiled (pg19)

I surmise that Buzzer will be slightly embarrassed about him being in that.

I've said in the past that I'm not wild about statues outside stadia, especially when they're of players who are still alive. And I stand by it. But if there was going to be one, it's that trinity.
I regret the fact that most people never get to see the Trautmann statue, since it's in the reception area. He's as much a legend as anyone who's ever played for City. He really is a “legend” for me, in the proper sense of the word, because I never saw him play, and have only read and heard stories about him. Same for Peter Doherty.
Bert was my very first football hero, a wonderful player. I can still reel off the 1956 Cup Final team as if it was yesterday. I have a signed programme from his testimonial that is a priced possession.

The testimonial was the first City game I went to. The rest, as they say, is istree.

Similar thoughts really. This trio epitomised City in that glorious period but also through the dark days, they never gave up on us and even though I never saw the three playing together for us, I was always very proud of them. Who can ever forget Buzzer’s prediction after that defeat by united. It’s fitting we have a permanent reminder of them on one side of the stadium and of three legends who helped end those difficult years on the other.

I think we’ll see one to commemorate the first CL triumph in the future but it will be a while. Luckily we have lots of land to fit all these on.

It looks fantastic and I'm so glad they honoured the other players from that era too, as there were many that contributed and are more than worthy of the recognition.

But but but…. we’ve got no history, right?

Can’t wait to check it out later. Thoroughly deserved recognition of our three wise men.
Im presuming that’s what this is, to represent our history. 3 iconic players from that era or success, and 3 statues from 3 iconic players who propelled this era.

IMO that should be it now for statues. 3 from our history. 3 from our present.

I think it becomes a bit silly if we keep doing statues. That treble winning side were special, but we can honour players in different ways. And there's a certain manager who will probably deserve something when his time comes to an end.

Absolutely agree. How about a Guardiola, Mercer, Alison one?

The rooms in the hotel should be named after ex-players. The Bobby Johnstone one with a well stocked bar.

Book, Kidd and Pep. Another trio. All those will need something.

That’s it though, potentially it could just keep going on and on, which would be ridiculous. There’s a story with the ones we have.

Let's hope they actually look like the players, can't really tell till someone puts up pictures in the daylight
