1980's Umbro City Shirts

City Shirts, I know you must have been asked a lot but I just wondered whats your favorite ever City shirt?

1988/89 Division Two Paul Moulden match worn shirt....Also worn by Trevor Morley during Mel Machin’s Promotion season. ‬

The style was used again during the 1989/90 First Division campaign on four occasions at Coventry, Chelsea, Wimbledon & Everton.

I had a version of this but without the Brother sponsor. Did they bring out two separate versions?

1979/80 First Division Dave Bennett match worn shirt v Norwich City.....1st March 1980....The only occasion Bennett would wear the number 11 during the campaign.

Why does the shirt color on the photo of Dave Bennett look so much more shiny than on the other photos? Was it shiny back then?

The 80's are by far my favourite decade and style for shirts but I'd go for this 1973/74 as a favourite which just screams City every time for me.

That's Colin Bell's 73/74 match worn shirt

Mick McCarthy debut at Cambridge 17/12/83. Forty bloody years ago this weekend. I was 17 at the time stood behind the goal at the then Cabbage Patch End, it was when I first realised we had a long way back. Mick wore number 6 on his debut.View attachment 101135
Almost 40 years ago !! Not a great game (0-0), highlight being the Scottish pre-match band which I thought would be the inspiration for our tartan contingent!! Geoff Lomax and Andy May the full-backs if I remember correctly. Those were the days !!!

My fave. Never wear it but absolutely love it.
I remember us playing QPR on a Sunday away - we had stayed the night before in Windsor and the following morning i woke up with a monumental hangover - seeing this at Loftus Road trotting out didnt help to soothe my poor old napper

Compared to some of the shite Puma (and Nike before them) have served up, the 80s shirts weren't that bad.

*Controversial opinion alert* I actually liked the red and black chequered shirts. There; I said it.

Awaits incoming....

@City_Shirts Do you collect other memorabilia, or is it just match worn shirts?

I've got the match ball from the 2011/12 home derby, won by Vincent Kompany's shiny bonce, along with POA certificate - my pride and joy.
I usually just stick to shirts but that’s a lovely piece for sure so feel free to give me a nudge when you are ready to part with it :-)
