It actually makes sense now almost more than ever because we are screaming out for someone with the ability of Messi in the tight-spaces but I think he went to Miami with a view to being loaned out to Barcelona during the break

There will be more likely that we will not replace Philips if he goes in january

Really hard to find immediate replacement who have near quality as Rodri to be his backup.

Just because we didn't get any speculations/rumours out in public, it doesn't mean we weren't prepared. City should have a list of targets and will try to sign a decent CDM in January if he departs.

Being decent isn't enough if you want somebody that will be a backup and rotation for Rodri.

Or you will risk someone like Philips happened again and wasting the money.

We will get most of our money back on Philips

We tried, he tried but in the end he simply not at the level we want or need

I doubt we will buy anyone and that could be our downfall this season

Doesn't mean the player we have identified will be available in January.

Do you actually know if Paqueta will still be under investigation next year? He provided the FA with his phone some time ago. Also, after the way Bayern behaved last window it may well be Palhinha would prefer us if we are interested.

It's looking highly likely he'll still be investigated in January a fair chance he'll get a ban. Highly unlikely West Ham would sell in January anyway for less tha a fee well over his release claue. I suspect Paulhina doesn't fancy us and being Rodri's understudy but may be wrong..

We'll find out before too long for sure. Personally I'd like to see either or both join us in a couple of weeks however unlikely that seems.
 
What really stands out to me is the lack of genuine recovery pace in the midfield and at the back. Walker was outpaced twice today by their substitute. What would a Keith Curle be worth to this team? Really needs to be sorted asap.

I dont know much about Andre, only seen him play one full game + youtube clips, but he looks like an interesting player that I wouldn't exactly mind signing. But is he good enough today to go straight in and start games regularly? Perhaps not so certain, he has never played at top level before.
Frimpong plays in a system that plays to his strengths, not so sure he's good enough defensively to play in a back 4, at least not in a City team. First and foremost I want our defenders to be good at defending. If they are good in attack too, great, but it cant be at the expense of defending. In my opinion!

I think this team need players that can come in and improve us from day one so I hope we aim higher than this.
 
If we sign anyone then a midfielder seems most likely and needed. One issue is with the euros at the end of the season some players will want guarantees about playing time. They won’t want to risk their place in the national side. Plus elite proven players don’t move in Jan. So I think a South American player is probably the best fit. Andre?
