European Super League | ECJ rule that UEFA and FIFA acted unlawfully in blocking Super League (p 29)

Abandon the English league pyramid and I'm gone as a matchday fan.
Might watch on Telly, but live nah.
Find a lower league side and watch them.

When I give up on City I’ll give up on football. 50 years of being a blue, I’m City till I die.

Lower league? Someone else’s team. Would rather watch paint dry.

That just shows how out of touch Sky are , once it was obvious that City were becoming football juggernauts they should have jumped on and reaped the benefits, but they didn't have the vision to do so as they are so entrenched in the past, just look at their coverage of games .
As we got bigger and better, they just employed more rags.
Hope Sly dies a slow painful one

Or the bollocks to do so because their cash cow is the rags, dippers, tarquins and spuds fanbase.

The club has come out and said no go. Not sure why people can't get their heads around this. It's not happening.

Who said otherwise? I certainly didn’t.

I’m just saying we shouldn’t have the same love for our own league as we did before.

It’s a pointless discussion anyway since this competition would replace the Champions League and not the domestic leagues - like the last version would have.

Just to play devils advocate…

The entire football pyramid is based on geographical separation from the days of steam trains.

With modern transport effectively making Barcelona closer than Birmingham was 100 years ago…and boundaries between nation states blurred in many walks if life (eg international trade / movement)…perhaps the system does need a shake.

In that context European (or even World) tiers at the top of the pyramid above national and regional leagues would be almost certainly exist if a structure was being built from scratch today.

I oppose protectionism - which will inevitably be the driver of any change - but I could live with an open merit based competition operating at a larger geographical scale in principle.

It would give us something else to win!

I may be mistaken but there's a certain red team of scouse cunts that haven't distanced themselves at my last checking. If we'd have gone the day silent, you could have powered the world on the boiled piss

I just noticed theres a headline article in the Daily United rubbishing the ESL with a massive header being a picture of Erling.......why ?

City champions and Haaland is the global superstar of the league?

Also, any excuse to put city into a negative article. Win win for the twats.

I certainly wouldn’t advocate City going into the ESL, but I wouldn’t be adverse to giving the PL the impression that we might make the jump. It will concentrate their minds if they continue to victimise City, Everton, and potentially Newcastle.

I think the suggestions that City could be busted down to the National League or even the Championship are now gone. The PL will need all the allies they can get.

We should start making statements which infer we are interested in this just to get the PL confused. But not us we immediately issue an official statement of total disassociation with the whole thing. Why do we do this?. Either way the PL must be completely fucked up now. The whole game is being totally revolutionised the investment of the Saudi league internally overnight plus the emerging’new’ power bases I.e. us not to mention Girona has caught the old guard out, the PL is as archaic as the FA both lost in time one still pines for the good old days of muddy pitches leather caseys and players getting the bus to the game and the other fell into the 1992 black hole and has all but imploded

Up till a few years ago I was the biggest conservative (not Tory) as far as protecting tradition etc etc but the UEFA actions then the bollocks from PL and the cartel behind both quangos clearly fuelled by little no marks in the media have changed my outlook

I say fuck em …… let’s go for it….. I’m close to sacking going to games recently never thought it would come to this after setting foot in Maine Road that Saturday afternoon watching Nelly get his hat trick against Leyton Orient but these twats have all but broken my spirit.

This isn’t based on arrogance or anything else but I’m 66 tomorrow and the idea of our next game being against a Brazilian team in a global tournament to win the World Club Cup on my birthday is far more appealing than playing Brentford in the PL ffs….. loads of mates from Stalybridge and Ashton are having the time of their lives watching us this week over there like an idiot I chose to watch us play Palace at home and then have to put up with us being slated by all and sundry hitting headlines across all media sources for drawing a game followed by a news blackout during and after cruising through the World Club semi finals
Is this the go nuclear option?

Sounds good.

Impossible, but it’s good rhetoric.

apparently, its not only English clubs that cant play both superleague and domestic competitions, italian and french clubs cant either, you either play under uefa ruling or outside (esl)

the video should clarify some doubts

Also one thing that doesnt get mentioned at all and it should is that the players unions are against it as well
