Punishing a handful of criminals who may have stolen a few grand 20 years ago in exchange for having unfounded convictions hanging over hundreds of people's heads for years to come is not a good trade.

In any civilised society, protecting the innocent and maintaining their freedom should be far higher priority than catching thieves.

They are literally high fiving each other that they have prevented the truth from coming out in Crown Court.

Reads to me as though there are three or four candidates who seem to be candidates for investigation for perjury.

Perhaps some lessons for any of us who are interrogated in this way are:
Insist on recording the interview and insist on having a solicitor present.
In court ask the investigators, witnesses for the prosecution and prosecuting council how many similar cases they have been involved in/are aware of?

Why ? An honest professional investigatory body would be able to convict them..... or do you mean the shower of shit that the PO employ couldn't legitimately detect fuck all so just arrested and charged every one they could find and are now too scared to do their job ?

again that relates to my post yesterday - the bin dipper on the stand answered loads of questions before it dawned on him how deep a hole he was digging for himself. I was amazed he wasn't better prepared - just watch an hour of Sunak and the like before a Select Committee....... " I don't know - I don't recall - I never saw that " is the best if dishonest way to go so you don't want to incriminate yourself
