A carthorse, like me.Was he a racehorse?
Haha. Better than being a donkey like me.A carthorse, like me.
Hi @staffsblue I’m working in Stafford next weekend on the Railway. Im staying at a Premier Inn just off Junction 14 any decent running routes around this area do you know of ? Cheers in advanceJust completed my 75th Parkrun in 29:19 at the Isabel Trail "B" course at Stafford RUFC.
Not bad going seeing that I've got a dose of the dreaded man flu, and I couldn't see a thing for half the run because of the low sun!

Thanks for the info , I’ll look into some of those later . I’ve actually been working at Rugeley Trent Valley and Colwich area. No trains are on this weekend as we're working on them to put the new signalling into service. I drive past Cannock Chase around Milford and Shrugborough Hall area so might look into a running route around there . Would have done the park run but I'm working nightsNormally I'd say have a run up the Isabel Trail, which used to be the Stafford to Uttoxeter railway, but it's currently flooded under the Eccleshall Road bridge. You could still run part of it up to the point of the flood.
In the same area, you can run around Stafford Common off Stone Road.
In the town centre, there is a riverside path that takes you through the park, past Stafford Town football club and onto the canal towpath depending on how far you want to go.
Also, there is the Millennium Way, which is the route of the disused Stafford to Wellington railway, towards Derrington and Gnosall.
If you're free at 0900 on Saturday, there's the Parkrun, which is currently 4 laps of the rugby club.
If your preference is for a bit of trail running, there's plenty of routes on Cannock Chase, which is either a short drive away, or you can catch the train out to Rugeley then walk / run up to there.
I won't be around next week as I'm up at my partner's flat in Manchester so will be doing one of the Manchester or Salford Parkruns.

Yeah who can forget that story. I was saying in Cannock a couple of years back ( in the tall Holiday Inn off the M6 toll.) Collymore was in the gym I went to, what an a***hole! There's some decent trails starting at Birches Valley car park. Be careful where else you go on Cannock Chase as some car parks double up as notorious dogging areas, infamously frequented by Stan Collimore!
Why don't you sign up for a race to give you something to aim for?Not been running for 3 days now. Just not had the motivation tbh. The last few weeks I've been cutting down my kms too. Just sick of getting niggles and pulls in this cold weather. I'm having a word with myself right now and I'll be on it after work tomorrow. Just in need of a little motivation.
Funnily enough, my daughter wants to do a 10k with me this year. It's not big for me, but it'll be for her. So yep, we'll sort one out pal.Why don't you sign up for a race to give you something to aim for?
Can't even imagine how hard that is. The distance, the elevation, the terrain, the weather, the lack of sleep. I don't know which one would take me out first.Anyone else dot watching the spine race? Predictably damian hall and kim collison setting the pace up front, and at record pace so far.
John Kelly and pavel whatshisface pulled out overnight.
Watch out for Jack Scott who is not far off the leaders and had a right good go last year

Yep takes some doing, and won't even get a mention on the news until its over and the winner will get 2 mins on morning telly. Can't even imagine how hard that is. The distance, the elevation, the terrain, the weather, the lack of sleep. I don't know which one would take me out first.
You'll be back on your feet before you know it matewon't be running now for 8 weeks plus, two metal pins to correct two toes on my right and had bone/ligament removed.
Needed to be done but realise how much I'm gonna miss running and walking in general
Yes, just reading Damian Halls book which is proving a cracking read. Incredibly how he started so late in life, now smashing it at elite level. Comes across as a cracking bloke also.Anyone else dot watching the spine race? Predictably damian hall and kim collison setting the pace up front, and at record pace so far.
