North Stand Construction Discussion

@LEXSTARproject

In response to a recurring point you make. The hotel part of this has been taken on by another architects practice, WATG. And the fins/sails do indeed seem to have got a bit deeper from what was shown previously.

These are the words the execs at City need to look at

"We think this will greatly improve the atmosphere, and really help the team"

Small focus groups will also be organized by the club - anyone wishing to join those discussions will need to register their interest in advance.

Phil Parsons, CEO of Saints, said: “Our fans are the lifeblood of the club, and we want to ensure the best possible atmosphere for years to come, so we’re excited to be making these important upgrades to St Mary’s.

“We’ve been listening to fan feedback, consulting with our Fan Advisory Board and we know moving the away end to create a full home end in the Northam is something a lot of our fans have been wanting for a long time.

“A lot of work has already taken place behind the scenes to get us to this stage and I would encourage all fans to complete the survey or take part in a focus group if they can to share their views with us.”

Mike Sadler, Fan Advisory Board co-chair, added: “For many years, Saints fans have said that having the Northam end split between home and away fans has reduced the atmosphere and helped away teams.

"The Fan Advisory Board represents fans, and support the club in their decision to create the full Northam end.

“We think this will greatly improve the atmosphere, and really help the team.

"We are delighted that this is now going to happen and look forward to helping the club to progress this exciting project together with our fan base.”

The club statement adds: "Pending the outcome of the consultation period, we’re aiming to start work later this year.

"We're considering relocating away fans to the current family stand area. We’ll make sure a family-friendly environment is maintained throughout the changes.

"Specific areas will be designated for families and young fans."
So they've done what City have already done, does that mean Southampton have copied us?

Apparently their plans including knocking down the complete stand and their CEO didn't want to reduce the capacity and loose revenue for 2 seasons ! Think UEFA my have something to say to him as they were chosen as a ground for Euro 2028 on the basis of having a 48k capacity by then !
The hosts still meet the UEFA stadium criteria for stadiums

Looking at that CGI rendition both the south and north stands are perfectly placed in height and roof configuration to allow us expanding the East and west stands. If it happens what would the expected capacity come out at?

Looks that way with the North Stand just deeper but not higher!

Thanks for posting the video LEXSTAR. Good find. :-)

VU.City do some great stuff. There’s a Manchester page.

Took screen grabs of the 8 video stops, made them clearer, and resized them so people can have a closer look. Click on the picture, click on the download arrow, which takes you to the Post Image page, and click on the picture and it will fill your device screen.(my device is an iPad) The VU.City link shows the video which LEXSTAR posted without the annoying webinar inset on the YouTube video. Scroll down the page to the 2nd video. https://www.vu.city/aj-100?utm_sour...MIx8732sTngwMVwotQBh1HxwtwEAAYAiAAEgLhV_D_BwE

Maybe they should just paint the whole thing yellow! Get a remaming sponsorship. With IKEA!

Scouser, Mister Drone UK, did his first video on our stadium but I’ll happily not be watching another. He begins by mocking our ‘best team in the land and all the world’ banner and is liking ‘Emptyhad’ posts in the comments.
Mr Drone is one of the best of these types of vlogs and you must be very sensitive if you thought he was mocking "the best team in the land and all the world" People make comments about the vlog does not mean he likes them. I think you are just shit stirring. I will watch all his vlogs because he talks to work forces and gets to know things.

I agree he usually does a good job but when you then do City and start liking Emptyhad comments on the video it isn’t really very endearing. Also, why would I ‘shit stir’ about a random guys videos? That’s just a ridiculous assertion. Most people here won’t even know who he is. You clearly like the taste of his ball bag though.

Not sure what it is at the moment, but people like myself and @jrb are being racked on recently on by people who don’t even contribute positively to the thread when it’s people like us that kept the chat going for so long.

I have just watch that vlog again and see nothing to get upset about it so if you don't watch him again you will be missing good stuff. And don't take any notice of comments left about the vlog they are just fans of other teams that don't know what they are on about.
About the taste of ball bags I know now what kind of character you are, like to dish it out but can't take it.

I did state the Huddersfield match had sold out. I wasn’t questioning that.

I questioned why there were so many empty seats, and there were, all over the ground for such a cheap game, pretty much a family day out, a good kick off time, good weather, etc.

And no, I’m not giving RAWK, the CAF, or any other rival fan forum the ammunition to have a go at us. They already do that anyway.

Just like everyone else I want the Etihd to be full for every match. Because for every City fan that buys a ticket and doesn’t turn up, there is another City who can’t buy a ticket, but would turn up. After all, we’ve got 120,000 fans waiting for a season ticket according to City.
Well our two seats for the Huddersfield match were empty because we could not find a train to get us to the stadium and back after the match because of the chronic state of the railways especially Avanti and TPE with constant strikes and last minute ‘cancellations’.

We couldn’t make the Crystal Palace or the Sheffield United match either for the same reasons but were able to use the ticket exchange.
