The talk on twitter is that the club have known about it for a couple of months... The announcement today is because they have sorted a deal out with whoever is replacing him and announcement on that is due imminently.
Some media outlet will have got a sniff of the story and would be ready to break it, is usually the situation. So they get it out there first.

But which top level manager is going to announce a departure from their own club to join another at this stage of the season?

Now we know why his Saudi club were so keen to offer him an extended deal.

You don't let a top manager slip away.

its not just talk, klopp says in the video he told the club in november.

i saw a theory that klopp informed the club in november and they agreed things with alonso, that’s why don carlo extended for madrid in december, alonso was not an option anymore.

Apparently the Liverpool players knew in November. That is to tell everyone than they haven't dropped their performance levels. Let's see how they do after the announcement. Remember when Slur Alex and Pellers told us they were off and how results tanked after that. We'll see.

Got to say thank you to Klopp his Liverpool teams have been amazing. I like the man and he’s a lovely human being. Was excellent competition with us. It was very hard to compete with our very own blues who are world class in every department. I will miss the guy and it’s a sad loss for football in general

Don’t like Kloop although he’s one of the top managers he’s a wanker and the supporters are wankers too. I really hope they struggle like fuck and Brighton or Newcastle take their place in the top 4. I wouldn’t give the victims the steam off my piss.
Graphic but I concur.

I was thinking about how much longer klopp would be at Liverpool only 2 days ago and my gut feeling was not much longer, so I'm not too surprised by his announcement. I genuinely think Pep has broken him and that Klopp realises he'll never usurp him.

I think him leaving will send shockwaves through the LFC dressing room and they'll lose belief and confidence causing a few freak results against them. All this with us looming in Klopp's rear view mirror doesn't bode well for him and his team, IMO.
