Don't disagree with Mone and HS2, even if the later was comissioned by Brown. The Royal family bring in far more than they get and let's face none of us would want their job.

Good for you, but you stated that "someone who earns $45k pays 20% and someone who earns £51k pays 40%"
which is simply not true, as others have pointed out it's a marginal increase from an overall tax take of 25% of income to 26%.

So your point is either badly made or exaggerated for effect, so don't get all huffy when you are called out on it.

He’s still trying to recall saying everyone should pay the same rate of tax.

Its hard to keep up when you’re spinning so many plates with shit on them.

It wasn't a joke, he pointed out that Starmer can't tell us what a woman is, which is true. I really don't think that the pond life that would stab someone 14 times would watch PMQ's.

You're correct of course and I hold my hands up to the way I tried to get my point across which was wrong. I should have used a larger figure to highlight the increase. So do you think it's correct that someone who earns £130k will pay around £48k in tax.

I don't need to recall anything I do think the same rate of tax should apply to all. Not the super rich and the big companies that avoid tax should be brought to task. I'm also not naive enough to think that in today's world that would be workable. I do however think that the tax brackets are unfair.

Bet you agree with the RFL brackets with the more expensive cars paying more and cars over 40k have to pay extra for the first 5 years.

I‘m all for the rich paying more. Even if it is a higher rate of tax, the percentage of it in their disposable income is far higher than those on less, therefore they can pay more and should.

I have no issue with that applying to me either, as I have a social conscience and recognise that those less fortunate than me rely more on public services.

Of course you’ll get your scruffy Jims of the world who fuck off to Monaco to avoid as much as possible. He obviously doesn’t love our country enough to contribute properly to it.

If that pisses off people that earn £100k in order for those on £25k to live better, I’m happy to make that compromise.

I think it is probably about fair given that the tax burden has to fall somewhere and at that level of income you are
a) being taxed on income above your basic needs
b) have the money available to take advantage of tax breaks like pension contributions, ISA's and generate unearned income which is taxed at a lower rate.

If I was paying that much tax I would be a lot better off than I am now so would be happy.

BUT I would still be very pissed off with the way this Government are wasting my taxes on shit like Rwanda, PPE Waste, Teesside Freeport regeneration giveaways, Train Company Subsidies, PFI Schools Contracts, Bounce Back Loans write offs and Corporate Welfare.

Everyone paying tax should be voting against this bunch of Tory Spivs/Crooks who are robbing us blind in plain sight.

I would also still want the tax burden to be shared more widely so that less falls on earned income.
It is easy to tax the law abiding worker through PAYE so they always do that.

It's a bit harder to tax Corporations and the wealthy individuals who move the money offshore or into Trusts, or the Criminals who operate in the Black Economy, so they get away with it, but at the end of the day it was Elliot Ness who brought down Al Capone.

We need to arm the the Taxman and get serious about everyone paying their fair share, not just the easy targets!
