Chelsea (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Admittedly, you’ve been hugely successful this last decade and to be fair, I’ve really enjoyed the quality of football you’ve played. I suppose my favourite City team was when Aguero and Silva were in the team. Sublime stuff. However, nothing lasts forever, dynasties come and go and I might be proven wrong but I feel yours is coming to an end.

Nothing against City, per se, but it’s hard to maintain that consistency for years.

I applaud your style of football and the success it brought but to be honest, you are Johnny Come Latelys…you still lag the legacy of the ‘Red Shirts’. Where were you pre 2012?
Never won a european trophy & last major honour was over 20 years ago, pipe down mate haha

It's baffling why the pitch looked like something from a lower-tier league like this after just some rain, especially considering there had been no game at the Etihad for weeks. It affected our passing and control style, but favored a more direct/counter-attacking style similar to Chelsea's instead.

Two quick things:
a) I thought we drew not lost?
b) Why would you boo Sterling (or Palmer) as they left the pitch? Once a Blue always a Blue. :-)
It was disappointing to hear a few boos, I’d like to think we’re classier than that but I guess the frustration of the game got to people. If we’d been winning comfortably everyone would have joined in with the applause. I hope.

Fucking some clapping Sterling and Palmer off the pitch, disgraceful, why?
Because we’re not cunts?
Because we recognize that both of them were good servants to the club?
Because both were respectful when scoring against us for their new clubs?
Because we are City fans who are above the petty bullshit thrown by others?

How many reasons do you need to show a little class and sportsmanship???

One of those days. There have already been more if these days.

Chelsea home and away
Pool at Home
spurs home
Palace home
Villa away
Wolves away
Ah, how quickly they forget the ecstasy to focus on the agony.

It’s called sport because you actually have to show up and perform.

And, we are called Blues, not Rags or Dippers, because we don’t take winning for granted or act like entitled cunts with a smacked arse when things don’t go exactly as planned!

15 months at home without being beaten and never not scored at home, with the exception of Palace. Get a grip!

Imagine Gvardiol played like Ake last night. He would have been slaughtered for his performance, as 90% of their attacks went through Ake's zone.

Not saying Ake was poor!

Only that people judge performances on the basis of their preferences and prejudices. 'Gvardiol isn't a LB, so he must be at fault for attacks in that zone. Ake is a top defender, so he can't be at fault.'

Same with Doku. The other attacking players were worse last night, but it's Doku's fault that we didn't score more goals.

The new players are easy targets.

Pep tries new things, they don't work initially, people decry his stubbornness, and then things click.

It was the same last season when Pep tried new things, we suffered bad results, then Stones replaced Rico in that hybrid role and we didn't look back.

We'd have won last night comfortably IF one from Haaland (especially), KDB and Foden was his normal self. All of them plus Alvarez had a night to forget.

It happens, we move on.
