PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I think Everton are looking to reduce the deduction for pleading guilty, saying 10 points are far too many, as it spells relegation for half of the teams in the PL.

I think they might get it reduced to six points, or two victories, with the 4 point difference being a big deal.

Without a clear penalties laid out beforehand, it could seem arbitrary and capricious.

Perhaps a schedule, for example, $0-25M shortfall being a 3 point penalty, $26-50M being 6 points, $51-75M being 9 points, etc… might have made the Everton penalty feel less shocking.
The PL proposed a 'tariff' starting at a 6 point deduction for failing FFP and another point deducted for each £5m a team failed by. So 10 points deducted for failing by £20m, which would probably have been Everton's punishment.

The independent commission rejected that however, saying it should be up to them to decide any penalty. And then imposed a 10-point penalty.

Anyway apart from my original and first post on here, I do think the fact the club are continuing to invest millions into a new stand and women’s training centre has to be a good sign surely??

Noel Gallagher wasn’t so sure when he was giving my lad his guitar lesson yesterday.

Thanks for the tariff info.

Seems like, given the large amounts that can change hands at the last minute with transfers, the financial margins are creating penalties that are simply too large.

10 points is an enormous impediment, dooming half the teams in the League to relegation. And, while I’m not against points being a final penalty, it seems like it’s a draconian result. Perhaps a transfer embargo until in compliance for one reporting period, followed by a 3 pt penalty for each subsequent exceedance, etc…

I think the thing that has outraged fans is that they get deeply harmed by the actions of the mgmt of their club, and this 10 point penalty FEELS like it came out of left field to most people.

Again, I appreciate your fact-based contributions on Bluemoon.

Does football need all this ffp etc ? Why cant it just be about football clubs being run as the owners wish. Why cant it be a free market.

Has ffp improve football ?

How are Wrexham allowed to spend shed loads but Newcastle cant ?
You're missing the crux of the whole issue. - United needed FFP - and here we all are. Ironically it has back fired on them too, but old soak Ferguson and Gill were too consumed by jealousy and stupidity.

I am sure it’s not got anything to do with Newcastle being Arab owned and Wrexham being USA Hollywood owned

Problem being it was after the event, a penalty table for transgression of a ruleshould be set up at the outset otherwise could be construed as punishment fitting the transgressors.

You're right in part, however it takes two to tango. If City went on the war path in the media defending their reputation. the pile on fron the others would be even worse. Sometimes it is better not to fan the flames, and ignore it as best you can.

I'm sure the club are keeping their tinder dry for now and will launch an attack when the time is right. The owners are not mugs.

Deep down I reckon Rui Pinto was paid to make up the Football Leaks stuff he shared with Der Spiegel. I also think the club has some evidence of this. The fresh charges against Pinto if proven will land him in gaol this time. He has a reputation for trying to negotiate his way out of situations, and I'm pretty sure he will squeal about this subject at that point. He might also be far more open and honest about it once he is convicted, after all a book deal called "Rui Pinto - The true story of how corrupt football clubs paid me to try to ruin Manchester City" would be a best seller.
Several ways to skin the cats....I hope we use them all !!

Hi guys I am new on here, although I am a lifelong city fan, my first game was Tottenham at home, we won 5-2, iconic game, Brian Horton was the manager at the time, I have decided to come on to let you fellow city fans know that this is a topic I am really passionate about, just wanting to let people know that I feel like us as fans have kind of been left in the dark over these charges, and so I have personally gone out of my way to approach some of the senior people at city as to what will happen in regards to these charges, just before Christmas I approached Omar Barrada after a leauge home game, he was walking with his 2 kids to his car parked in the car park facing the main entrance of the Colin bell stand, I asked him that me and other sections of the city fan base are a little worried over these charges, he said don’t worry about it, we have nothing to hide, I also approached Tixi most recently after the Everton game, I asked him the same question, his response was Ahh Rubbish!! Rubbish!! I have even asked Mike summerbee and he said don’t worry about it!! The feeling I get from the club is that they are really not worrisome about this whole case, unlike some city fans like me who are worried typical city will resurface and we get the book thrown at us, anyway just thought I would let fans on here know, also this is my first post on here, took a lot for me to post this, but just felt I had to let people know,
Hahaha
