PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I’d agree then shaft em last minute, giving no choice than to head down south. Wouldn’t surprise me if the scousers stepped in, such is the coziness

All this talk of United ground sharing with Livarpool or Everton really disregards the travel problems for the United fans in getting to Liverpool for home matches.

The only solution that will take pressure off the roads and rail services is for United to play their home matches at Wembley!

They may even decide to stay there?

Question for those that know about these things….

City are being investigated for the seasons 2009 to 2018 presumably because the investigations started in 2018.

Could we face a second investigation from 2019 to 2024, particularly if found guilty of the first one?

@projectriver or @Prestwich_Blue may know but if anyone else does I would be interested to know. It’s in the light of the fact that Everton may also face a second lot of charges.
Anything possible in the unlikely event everything was proven. Everton charge irrelevant to this question though

There have been a couple of murmurs on this thread that perhaps Jim Ratcliffe might be looking for United to have a better off the pitch relationship with City which in turn might be a good thing for us with regards to the PL investigation. All speculative of course but it was interesting seeing some of his comments about us. In addition to the below, there was also reference to Berrada’s departure and how amicable the discussions were compared to Newcastle digging their heels in over Dan Ashworth:

"They are one of the best teams on the planet," Ratcliffe said of Man City, champions of England for three years running.

"We have a lot to learn from the noisy neighbour, and our other neighbour [Liverpool]. They are the enemy at the end of the day and there's nothing I would like better than to knock both of them or one of them off their perch.

"But equally, we are the three great northern clubs and we're all quite close to each other," he added.

"They've been in a good place for a little while. Both of them. There are things to be learned from both of those clubs.

"They've got sensible organisations, great people in the organisations and a driven elite sort of environment that they work in. And as a consequence, the results have dropped out of the bottom. So I'm very respectful of them, but they're still the enemy."
They’re are hoping for a ground share while the shithole is sorted out, no doubt about it.
Get fucked!

I very much doubt it.

In the early years City were coming of age, so easy to attack/characterise as a small club having to pay more.

Since 2018. Arsenal, Chelsea and United have outspent City in the transfer market virtually every year.

Since 2018 City have been smashing the league and every other competition. The TV revenue, prize money and "City Brand" have gone through the roof. So the "money shot" of a City player scoring the goal to win the league/FA Cup/UCL etc wearing Etihad is the most valuable sponsorship deal in the world. Also a lot more of City's revenue now comes from TV deals paid by the EPL.

It is hard to argue the club dominating English football can't attract major sponsorship deals either, especially when legacy clubs like Utd and Liverpool keep signing disproportionately large deals.

EG: TeamViewer have tried to renogotiate a cheaper deal with United because they're not getting what they expected and now know they paid too much. This begs another question, why aren't United being investigated over this deal?

The world has changed, so I think attacking our recent financial figures would be very difficult.

I'm saving this one for when we're cleared of all charges...

Dear BBC Panorama Team,

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to you with a story suggestion that I believe warrants serious consideration for investigation by your esteemed program. As an avid follower of football and a concerned citizen, I urge the BBC Panorama team to explore the phenomenon of media bias and propaganda surrounding Manchester City Football Club and its impact on the wider footballing community.

In recent years, there has been growing evidence of a concerted effort by certain media outlets, particularly those associated with rival clubs such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham, to discredit Manchester City Football Club through a relentless campaign of negative press and misinformation. This campaign, which I refer to as a "sportswashing media witch hunt," has had far-reaching implications for the club, its supporters, and the integrity of the sport itself.

The narrative propagated by these outlets portrays Manchester City as cheats and frauds, with the aim of influencing Premier League organizations and football fans across the country. This concerted effort, spearheaded by a cartel of clubs seeking to maintain their dominance, has created a toxic atmosphere of hostility and mistrust within the footballing community.

What is particularly troubling is the apparent collusion between certain media figures, ex-footballers, and representatives of rival clubs to perpetuate this narrative. Presenters and commentators affiliated with these clubs have utilized their platforms to disseminate biased views and unfounded allegations against Manchester City, further fuelling the campaign of misinformation.

Furthermore, there are concerns regarding the potential influence of former executives of rival clubs in key positions within the Premier League, which may have led to decisions and policies that unfairly target Manchester City. The implementation of Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, for example, has raised serious questions about the integrity and fairness of the governing bodies entrusted with upholding the principles of the game.

I believe that a thorough investigation by the BBC Panorama team could shed light on these allegations and uncover any instances of media manipulation, institutional bias, or conflicts of interest within the footballing establishment. It is essential that the truth be exposed and that justice prevails, not only for the sake of Manchester City Football Club but for the integrity of football as a whole.

Thank you for considering this story suggestion. I am confident that the BBC Panorama team will approach this investigation with the professionalism and integrity that it deserves.

Yours sincerely,
Wow. What a fantastic letter!

Bet if we agreed to ground share with them, the transport situation would get sorted quicker than it takes to walk from Piccadilly. In which case, we should offer to do it, then pull out once the transport situation is sorted!!
