Sounds like a queen wasp. It's too early for regular wasps so that little sucker was looking for a place to build a nest. Good thing you got it but make sure it doesn't come back or you'll likely be in a whole heap of trouble this summer.

We had wasps start building a nest on my lads curtains last year ! only got about an inch big so was able to get rid.

I am scared now !

We've had them in the house out of season but I've killed them. They often like to build nests in garages, sheds and outbuildings but if they get in the house the attic is their nesting site of choice.
