Agreed, it was/is on a different scale, but I reckon the resulting effect of diminishing the club and destroying its culture over the long term is the same.

I think Newcastle were in the better position. Because their owner ran the club on a shoestring.

United have bought expensive on big contracts. And getting rid of them will be difficult.

Well that goes without saying.

Everything we do is far better than them.

The point I was making is that there history is based on achievements other clubs haven't reached. Their treble and having more league titles than anyone else in the division.

However, within the next five seasons the rags could find themselves in a situation where Liverpool have got more titles than them and the scum's sole purpose is to try and keep up with MCFC.

What I would say is historically Arsenal are shit at OT. In the same way Liverpool are. Everyone expected Liverpool to batter them. Miles better team in paper; yet in the league and cup they fluked it.

Arsenal should go and twat them but historical results suggest otherwise. And using the same logic us winning at Spuds is no gimme for exactly the same reason
