Maybe but he hasnt shown that here so far....he passes safely and retains possession and even when in the middle of the park he often does the same....one attribute he does have for that central role is that he carries the ball well but im not sure he has that final ball in him

Think it starts right from the front - our press with Haaland and De Bruyne is useless, which gives opponents chances to pick passes into channels to expose our defence. Added to that a pretty disjointed midfield and little wonder we're a step off it

Much will be made of that lot knocking it long, but any decent side can play around de Bruyne/Haaland quite easily, and that then leaves Rodri isolated. If the front three don’t press with the same intensity and with the same coordination, then we’re in trouble.

We just need a solution to the low block teams play against us. Doku is key with savio coming in hopefully staying he was I think the best dribbler and take ons in la liga this season. That’s two wingers then each side to drive at and break a teams low block / shape, if Savio goes out on loan then we need a Right wing similar to Doku skill set.

What we need as well id say is an energetic midfielder. Kev is getting on and had injuries I don’t think he’s got the engine he used to so he can’t press like he could, so Guimaraes would be a brilliant signing. Play him next to Rodri. Instead of Kova , let Kev concentrate on creating

Adds an engine next Rodri to help him. Kova is brilliant for control but he can’t continuously press teams. Guimaraes is best in the league for ground duels. I think he’s pretty high for distance covered as well.

We don’t need much surgery or a big rebuild. Just need a solution to teams that low block us. It’ll get worse next season with the new offside technology.

We’re reports around the time of the uefa rule change we were looking at loaning him to a PL team. There were other teams looking at him before we bid I think Chelsea, Villa and Newcastle.

Yes probably that was the position I was 50/50 on. Though Gomez rarely played, but Walker is another year older.Just don’t think Frimpong who is the one mentioned is the right one for us.
I’m coming around to thinking Pep will go next summer but Bernardo, KDB, Walker will go as well and we’d rather let the new manager replace those 3.
