Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

We'll still be the best team, still win stuff. Doubt there will be any drop off.
we had a top team under mancini amd pellers, but we dropped off every other season (or more with manuel) Pep is the x-factor tgat made tge last 7 years so dominant.

we will deffinately drop off, still trophies and to 4 but not champs every year I am sure.

There will be a drop off. Possibly a big drop off. How could trying to replace the best coach in history at the same time as a fair proportion of the squad coming to the end of their cycle not result in anything else?

Only imo but there will definitely be a drop off after Pep, we've dominated because of Pep, it didn't happen before him or i believe, after him

Mancini did well building a team to compete with the rags winning City their first league. Pellegrini seemed to take City backwards after winning the league in 2014. We did have the ability to identify top players such as Silva, Kompany, Toure, Aguero, Zabaleta etc before Pep, it’s getting it absolutely right who will be managing the first team and keeping City challenging. The infrastructure is certainly there around what ever manager comes in.

Of course there will be a drop off this isn't normal, but we will still be a top team still challenging every year, still win things because we are better run than just about anyone else.

Think we have to remember that whilst Pep is undoubtedly the best manager ever, there are lots of other VERY good teams in Europe so they also have excellent managers.
Pep will be replaced. Sad but fact (but I love him to bits for what he’s done for us & I’m so glad I am here to witness this era)

I think this may be the start of the drop off.
The last 4 years have been incredible.
And that standard is totally impossible to keep.
Once pep goes we will end up with a very good manager.
But not anywhere near pep

Reading the current room, he'll extend.

I'm not as confident at this point. The executives at NYCFC are pretty bullish about their chances of taking him there.

And I think Txiki just wants to retire back to Barcelona when his mate leaves.

Thing is, Pep calls the shots and City bend accordingly. He might consider he doesn't want to make a rod for his own back after reaching the top of the mountain.

I also think it is dangerous for any Club to be wedded to one person. The assumption is City will drop off after Pep, but I'm not so sure?

Real Madrid continue to win, regardless of who manages the team. Our structure is incredible.

Lives in City Suites which is an Aparthotel rather than residential. Never seen any come up for sale in there before, and know he has the penthouse

I don't think that is his. City actually own Pep's place and paid for the huge conversion over two floors.

Would seem strange for City to sell an asset they hold and can be used for the next man?

Especially so, as Pep has already said he is staying next season and nobody puts their place up for sale with a 12 month caveat to the buyer.

So, unless he has decided to quit now, I am dubious.

Honestly every time someone posts something that isn’t what we want hear and then gets automatically accused of being a United or Liveepool fan is so tiresome.
fair point and maybe i was a bit hasty but not sure what in that pertains to being peps apartment, didnt gundogan live in the same building, it could be his apartment thats gone up for sale after being rented for a while, there is any number of things

Yeh hopefully I'm completely wrong and it isn't, just going off what a few people have mentioned to me previously. There were rumours he was moving anyway into a new development on John Dalton St so could just be that

as much as id love pep to stay , i also dont want to end up in a gpc situation where they can never get out from under him.

The only thing id say is would the NYCFC appeal to his competitive nature, they have tried this time and time again with getting big names in to try and get football to take hold in the usa and it just doesnt work, messi is selling tickets but its kind of a freakshow situation rather than football taking any kind of hold, the plain and simple fact is in the us football will always be a poor relation to nfl and nba and even to mlb and whatever they do will not change that.
