10 | Jack Grealish - 2023/24

Some people will not like the fact but Jack underperforming this season is one of reasons of why we as team is not performing like we did last season.

I know there are other several factors but i still think if we have Jack performing at his best throughout seasons things will be different. Same if we have KDB and Haaland throughout season.

I know you and other Jack Grealish fans won't like the fact that, the reason we underperformed this season is because our most important players were misfiring. Rodri being knackered. Haaland missing easy chances and being anonymous in Big games. KdB on the decline, losing the ball easily, making wrong decisions, misplacing passes and chances. If one of them was firing at all cylinders. Tomorrow, we would be watching City vs Dortmund. Last week we would have lifted the F.A Cup.

I am sure there are other several factors but they don't include Jack. Example, coming off the back of an energy sapping treble or losing key technicians such as Gundo or playing Stones in the final and perhaps subbing Doku too late in the United and Madrid Games.

How I love our biased and tinted perspectives. You see what you see and I see what I see! In your Narrative Grealish is a central figure and in my Narrative he is just a squad player!

I make it about 4 good months in 3 seasons, the rest of the time he's been average or poor. Thing that frustrates me is he can be a great player but he doesn't take chances and plays within himself most of the time and that's not enough to warrant starting games. If we keep him and he has another bad season he'll be hard to sell so I'd sell him this summer if we can get 50-60M.

if pep drops a player out of squad it's a beginning of the end i'm afraid, if somebody would offer 60m it's a no-brainer to me, but who would match his wages that's the bigger issue

He's simply just "likes fishing" from Jack fans. I've learned to ignore his comments.

Many of us on here have played at a decent level and seen players of every level of ability come and go over many decades . What singles you out as a self declared 'expert' and anyone with a contrary view as feeble minded.

I like him. I can see him replacing KDB. He’s clearly not a winger. But no one can argue that last season’s numbers were criminal for a £100m player on wages of £1m a month. Make or break next season. A repeat surely cannot be accepted.

You said you can see him replacing KBB (arguably the best midfielder in the world) which is absurd, how? 3 goals and 3 assists last season is pitiful.

Replacing KDB’s position on the pitch. Obviously. Doubt there’s anyone out there who could actually replicate KDB and what he’s done.

Think he is a fun person and has great personality ,but 3 goals and 3 assists for a winger is just not good enough, nevermind for a player who cost 100 mil.He needs to contribute a lot more than just keep possesion.
 
Can't believe the way some people talk about a player who has played a big role in us winning the treble and (in his time here) three consecutive Premier League titles. The disrespect and lack of appreciation are staggering but, unfortunately in this day and age, sadly not surprising. By the time he leaves City, Jack will have played more games, scored just as many (if not more) goals, and won more trophies for this club than the likes of Asa Hartford, Eyal Berkovic, Georgi Kinkladze, Ian Bishop, Ali Benarbia, and many other fan favourites and cult heroes, but he's talked about as though his behaviour and application here have resembled the likes of Danny Mills. When I say some people in this thread don't get football, it's not a dig at peoples' ability to spot ability but a dig at people who choose not to be forgiving towards a player who works hard for the club and his teammates, loves being a part of the culture here, and clearly sees City as an adopted home. It's quite telling that so many people immediately went on the defensive about my earlier comment and chose to read it in the worst faith possible. I think that says rather more about them than it does about Jack or myself. A terrible shame.
