Last Film You Saw

The only films worse than LOTR are Star Wars, WTF, how anyone can take them seriously is beyond me.
The only thing (bar the length) wrong with LOTR is they cut out lots of important bits from the books and ruined the ending with some sacarine shite.

Had a Warren Beatty weekend - last night we watched Heaven Can Wait which is one of my all time favourite films, and tonight we just watched Ishtar. There really are no words for that one!

Godzilla: Minus One.

Such a dramatic and deep piece of artistic creativity and originality, wrapped in a range of deep acting and meaningful portrayal. Just kidding: generic, in a tough language to follow. Subtitles helped.

I hate subtitles. They take some of your attention away from what's actually happening on screen. That's why I try to avoid films that are 100% in a foreign language.

Actually keep attention more certainly stops me picking up my phone and been distracted.

The anti-reading and anti-multitasking movement speaks. I used to be the same.
The lack of knowing the actors, cast, directors etc certainly counterbalance that effect of subtitles. It becomes second nature to follow, but you can't exit a room at any time. Pause buttons are remarkable.

Some of the greatest movies that I've seen haven't come from Hollywood. Some of the weirdest have been in Cantonese or Korean though! Good movies make you feel, regardless of linguistic ability, or following words on the screen.

What You Wish For (2023) - Thriller/horror. Chap assumes a friends identity whilst in another country and soon finds himself deep in trouble. Quirky one this, made a change from the usual stuff.......

It's not a question of "anti-reading" or "anti-multitasking". I prefer to keep my attention for events on the screen. But thanks for your input.

Oh, by the way; one of the most enjoyable movies I've seen was subtitled. "Train to Busan".
