Last Film You Saw

Finally got round to watching Audition.

8/10 great little film and the lass was fit, though a bit intense and sadistic.

Wasn't as shocking as I expected though I am sure if I had watched it on release it would have been.(seen oldboy and lady vengance so this wasn't too shocking)

Endgame

9.5/10, they nailed it basically. Loses the .5 for something minor, that being

nerfing the power of Thor and hulk to make beating gauntletless Thanos impossible after a peak Thor walked through him in Infinity War. I guess there just wasnt a timeline where Thor didnt become a fat alcoholic.

Agreed. Not even a Marvel fan but that was bang on the money. Doing the conclusion is always a daunting task, even more so given the sheer volume of films that have lead to this point, but they did a banging job. I'd like to think no-one saw that and felt short changed.

It was pretty predictable though.

TBH, I nearly didn't put first part of quote. Basically it was unavoidable that elements of the plot would be fairly obvious if the film wasn't to commit commercial suicide but I'd say that there were some surprises. However, beyond a couple of very obvious things, I deliberately had not given it any forethought.

Just watched End Game. Obvious spoilers ahead so don't click if you haven't seen it.

Enjoyed it a lot but Infinity War was the far superior movie in my opinion. It was always going to tough for them to conclude everything and they did a good job of it all being said but there were certain things that bugged me. My main gripe is they just rock up and kill Thanos like 10 minutes into the film. So the Thanos they end up fighting isn't the one that has wronged them but a younger version that finds out through some lazily explained recording and then travels forward in time. Just thought that was a poor decision

The battle scene at the end was great and Stark's death was impactful. And very happy it looks like Thor will be in the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie as Chris Hemsworth's last few performances as Thor have been brilliant.[/quote]

Yeah it felt like “how do we wrap this 10 years up but ensure we plant enough seeds so we can continue the success we’ve built”

Watched that at Odeon on Oxford Road, i think it was probably a year or so after it's release. It was my first glimpse into the world of Takeshi Miike and i've wartched nearly all of his films since. Most of them are mental.

At the time, the most shocking element of the film was more the way it lured you into thinking it was a romance film of some sort, but then went full tilt into a revenge horror.

FYI - Oldboy and Lady Vengeance are S.Korean films, Audition is Japanese, but i get what you mean with the revenge & shock elements. You should also watch Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, for completeness. If you want to go all out whacky and weird, watch Ichi the Killer.

Yeah I know they are Korean , I do have the trilogy btw. Along with a bittersweet life which is probably my favourite of the korean ones

As for Japenese films I have the original dark water, Tkashis other film, one missed call and the excellent Premonition.

Will have to give Ichi a look

Endgame, solid 8, very proud of them for sticking with it and being bold whilst tieing everything down. I expected a slightly bigger shift in the roster of the MCU, let's say, but it was a good film with a feel of it's own.

My Cineworld 3D experience wasn't good! The heads floated menacingly a few inches infront of the bodies on elongated skinny necks, and the backgrounds were soft and blurry. I think 3D is an IMAX/iSense or GTFO thing
