I agree with you BBP.
It’s all about the art of letting go.
KDB is or should I dare say was a monumental player but even genuine world class players eventually decline in standard.
I don’t have the answer when to cash in or should we let him go on a free next year.
We can’t replace like for like but evolution is where Pep excels.

It's a tough call. He was given a long time to recover from his injury, but the fact he had to come off after 90 minutes against Real Madrid was a worry - had he managed to play ET we very possibly could have won with things being a bit more stretched. I would hope he'd be able to rest up post-Euro's, get some more strength and then be back to the Kev of old but there's every chance he's going to be at his current level where he doesn't quite have that initial burst to get past people and can't press intensely.

If we got £100m in and could identify a couple of players to give us different options then would it be bad business?! So hard to call. If you need a goal or something from nothing he's still the man and even if he can only play the odd 60 minutes, and goes on a free next summer that could be the difference between winning things or not - and would make us more than £100m.

Sooo, the links so far indicate

Hate this window already
Maybe I missed something, but I haven't seen anything concrete with Bernardo

I agree. The art of letting go is delicate. Foden is arguably the main man now. KDB had some great games this season but also several horrid ones. The odds will only tip further next season when he’s even older. Grealish may get more time if KDB goes which can only be a good thing. £100m would certainly soften the blow.

If it’s true that City are offering a new contract on much reduced wages he’d be a fool not to seriously consider any offer from SA.
To be fair even on a reduced wage he’s probably one of the highest earners. Surely he can cope on a bit less. It’s a bit disappointing if not

Would love to keep him, but he deserves to do what he wants, so the ball is in his corner. We would be crazy to turn down 100m quid or more, so Kevin will decide the rest. Having said that, we would need some SERIOUS replacement if he leaves...

Take the money and see if we can convince Wirtz? Money talks and all...

I have a feeling we’ll be triggering Olmo’s release clause
We’ll have to spend mad money to get the calibre of a Wirtz or Musiala in - summer 2025 I think

It would make sense considering our serious Bruno interest. If we are paying 100m for Bruno, he will start most games. The only way that happens is if we lose one of our starters. In this case, sadly it seems it's going to be Kevin :(.

We have his replacement, Foden. What we’d need is somebody to be used how Foden was used, either wing and in the middle when required. No idea who that person is though.

Jack/Jeremy/Oscar/Bernardo for 2 spots as it stands, but we need Bernardo in the middle sometimes, and there are some rumours that Oscar could go to Newcastle for a year. @Shazza458 could be right about Olmo, IMO. He wouldn't expect to start every game but has the experience at a relatively young age, technical ability, knows a bit of Pep's style from La Masia, and has the versatility. Also, he has a lowish release clause for today's crazy market.
