It really doesn’t.
The interviewer has said that the Sunak team offered them one date and time and that was yesterday afternoon. Surprising for the Daily Fail, there’s barely a mention of D-Day, and absolutely no mention of the UK PM pissing off early. When you compare and contrast with the absolute bollocks Corbin got for wearing ‘the wrong coat’ at the cenotaph one year, the standards of journalism in this country get lower by the day.

For him to leave early indicates to me he doesn't get what it actually means to be Prime Minister of our country. What his role is! It's not an accident, or an explainable error of judgement. He simply just doesn't understand.
 
I just cannot comprehend why the Prime Minister would be so disrespectful of the veterans of a war that gave us freedom.
The very words Prime Minister… Dictionary definition of Prime : of first importance, main. He is a rat of the lowest order of rats… in fact that is probably an insult to rats.
Many people have been saying that older people are the ones who will vote Tory well I think Sunak has probably changed a lot of their minds with this disrespect.



I hasten to add, I was not one of the older people of that frame of mind. I have never and will never vote Tory.

The state of the press in this country is so poor and it's impact so malign that I'd probably give my vote to anyone (up to and including bleeding Binface) who has a sensible plan to deal with it. It's really difficult to have a properly functioning democracy with the media shit show we have.

“The French government was told a week ago that Rishi Sunak would not attend the D-Day 80th commemoration, Tory sources have confirmed. The message to Paris from his team was that he would be too busy campaigning in the general election to make the trip.

That decision was reversed, and a short visit was the compromise, but it is extraordinary that attendance by a Conservative PM, or any PM, was ever in doubt.”

I know 100% if my Dad was alive today he would have been firstly in disbelief and then angry at the PM leaving early. It goes beyond party politics.
 
Everything that Sunak is doing for this election is damaging their chances of winning.
Conspiracy theorists everywhere will be saying "it is by design".
His decision making in the last couple of weeks is certainly head scratching.

It's a role on a CV that will continue to offer up a world of other opportunities after he's kicked to the curb.

I may not have liked some of the big beasts of the 60s, 70s and 80s but they at least understood what the role was and the concept of service to your country.

He's totally out of his depth in this role and will cost the Tories dearly. HTF he got elected by the Tories to lead them is staggering, but when you look at the talent they have available, it's kind of understandable.

The Tories have shot themselves in both feet and will be decimated next month and they have no one to blame but themselves.

So the head of state, not just any state, one of the major states involved in D Day, is invited over to one of the most important commemoration days of the year, and he says 'na you're alright' and he somehow thinks this is acceptable.

Corbyn may have worn ‘the wrong coat’, but at least he turned up and stayed to the end :)
