Because we often have summer events (concerts) on at the Etihad and they need extra time afterwards to get the pitch in shape. It's actually a request by City.

Rather have a home game last game of the season than first as more often than not we usually need to win for the league title . Not fussed personally if we are home or away first.

I agree especially as there haven't been any concerts this year so the usual request to be away first doesn't apply.
But as @Crucialc pointed out earlier in the thread, the test match at Old Trafford is happening over the second weekend of the PL season so makes sense for the rags to be away then. Based on that, good chance we'll be away for our first game.

I’ve booked a short holiday between the Charity Shield and the first game but just had a flashback that Brentford, Arsenal kicked the season off on a Friday night last season, or maybe the one before?
