Rationally speaking, the Supreme Court has just removed most (if not all) checks on presidential power.

They’ve effectively anointed whomever holds the presidency—by legitimate or illegitimate means—the king of the United States.

By their own decision, Biden could now have Trump assassinated (as long as he uses official presidential apparatus) and he could not be prosecuted.

Biden would not do that. But guess who absolutely would if he was president?
And this is the best way to react to it?

Best way to react to it is the Dems call out the fascist every single day. Call him a loser and highlight his felonies.
Because that's the mature way of dealing with the issue. Drag yourself down to his level. Name-calling instead of debating his policies, exposing his contradictions and lies, making him look foolish that way.

Just a brief clip but she would have gave Trump a far better match recently. also shows how far Biden has deteriorated in debates.

Trump only had this debate because he wanted the world stage and they were confident Biden had lost any edge he had to verbally challenge Trump, bad as Trump is!

The way they need to react is to find a politically and morally acceptable way to test the decision that makes republicans panic.

American politics is fucked because 1 side wants to shred the rule book and the other wants to play by it. The Democrats need to bring back mutually assured destruction as a check on Republican anti-democratic policies.

So let me get this right, Trump could go on national TV and say as president I’ve order the culling of all of congress they will be taken out and shot, because he he thinks they are planning a coup, he is above prosecuting because it’s an official order!

Debate, question, engage.

Paradox of tolerance. You can’t extend a policy of engaging in good faith towards a group of people who have no desire to engage in good faith. Tolerating a group who define themselves by their intolerance. History shows it doesn’t work and when you’re at this stage it’s already probably too late. Their mind is made up.

We can sit here debating and philosophising over the negatives of actions like this which are overtly anti-democratic. We can reach out to change minds. Try to connect with people and understand the underlying concerns that have led to such a situation. People have been trying to do that for many years already. Ultimately, if what Republicans want is a totalitarian state, then the people voting for one are not going to listen to those saying otherwise. There is no “correct” thing to do in this situation.

I don’t think anybody seriously thinks Biden is going to roll out Seal Team 6. All we can really do at this stage is hope there’s enough good people in the right places to stop the worst from happening. The time for engaging and educating to prevent democracy from deteriorating passed the USA by decades ago.

The issue is, Trump will have no compunction not at least trying to roll out Seal Team 6, which was my point.

But generally agree with everything you have said.
