Golf Thread

In my case it's not, it's a bunch of retired FOC's who play three times a week having a blast, pies, sandwiches and beers at half way and great company, play for a few quid, all retired enjoying our senior years, love it.
Hence why I said TV Golf, ie people who do it for a living. BTW glad you enjoy it.

Not an avid golf follower, so be gentle. How come tournaments in Africa or the far east are classed as being on the European tour. Shirley, there are Asian and African tours? They're no more European than I'm a Chesterfield 3 piece suite.

It's a good point you've made. It's down to the weather, a golf tour should be playable throughout the year, the American PGA tour basically follows the good weather starting in Hawaii then California and generally moving east through the year. The European tour has to move out of Europe because of the shit weather or it would only last for 6 months.

But isn't there African and Asian tours? Also; why should it be played all year round? Why can't they have the equivalent of Football's close season? Let me guess; money?

Of course but the prize money on those tours is insignificant. There's a pecking order in golf, the PGA tour is top dog by a distance, every professional golfer wants to play on it. The DP World tour which is the old European tour is next. Every other tour are feeders for them.

So; as I suspected. Money. But thanks for clarifying.

Golfers pick and choose when and where they play, there's no obligation on them to play a certain number of tournaments, as long as they earn enough points they retain their playing privileges on their tours.

14-11 to USA 3 games to play, Europe up in one, 2 being tied, very close. Europe need all three matches to win. Quite possible.

Why hasn't Solheim Cup got its own thread?????
There is, actually. From 2013. The fact that no one's posted on there in 11 years might tell a tale about the interest the competition attracts on here.
