PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The CAS witness evidence on this was broad and unequivocal:

Mr James Hogan, former President and CEO of Etihad: “The sponsorship obligations were paid out of Etihad’s own funds”

Mr Simon Pearce, Non-Executive Director of MCFC: "Neither ADUG nor [HHSM] funded any of Etihad’s sponsorship obligations”

Mr Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Board Member of Etihad Aviation Group and Chairman of the Board Finance and Investment Committee:

"[Etihad] did not receive any payments from ADUG or [HHSM] or any person or entity controlled or influenced by them, whether directly or indirectly in relation to any of the Sponsorship Agreements, whether by way of advance funding or subsequent reimbursement."

Mr Henning Zur Hausen, General Counsel and
Company Secretary of Etihad Aviation Group:

"All sponsorship fees payable by the Company under the Sponsorship Agreements have been and are being paid from the [Etihad’s] general funds and from sources available to the Company…[Etihad] did not receive any payments from [ADUG] or [HHSM] in relation to any of the Sponsorship Agreements.

Mr Tony Douglas, then Group Chief Executive Officer of Etihad, now CEO of Riyadh Air confirmed that Mr Zur Hausen's evidence was entirely correct and stated:

"For the avoidance of doubt, I also confirm that the sources available to the [Etihad] have never included (whether directly or indirectly) [ADUG], [HHSM], or any person or entity controlled or influenced by them.....I confirm, for the avoidance of doubt, that [Etihad] has never received any money whatsoever from [ADUG] or [HHSM] or any person or entity controlled or influenced by them, whether directly or indirectly."

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in writing confirmed:

“I can confirm that I have not authorised ADUG to make any payments to Etihad, Etisalat or any of their affiliates in relation to their sponsorship of [MCFC], nor have I authorised or arranged or anyone else to make any such payments to them. I can also confirm that I have not made any such payments myself."

If the pl are successful in proving this business people lied. Is it possible that these business people would take the pl to court to clear their names ?

He knows the outcome before the case has even been heard. Can you ask him for this week's lottery numbers while you're at it
If i was keys id be fuming, gray can see the future and he didnt warn him that hed got caught shagging his daughters mate while his wife was recovering from cancer, some mate that is.

Everton 100% did and were turned down.
I think that Everton also tried to claim for loss of Sponsorship following the Russian invasion of Ukraine but were declined something along the lines of due dilligance and should have factored in any failure in completing the full sponsorship.

Funnily enough another club were able to take up sponsorship from Chevrolet who had zero UK presence and then went on to quickly sack the person responsible for signing off on the deal, they then subsequently signed a deal with Team Viewer worth over 50% of their company revenue where nobody could understand how they were going to meet the obligations which they ultimately failed to do. And now they have a new £60 million deal with Snap Dragon who I believe don't sell direct to the consumer and who's target market are the Microsoft's and Samsung's of this world. Hard to see how the deal gets justifies their investment.

Strange really, no questions asked.

What i find really weird is that everton and forest arent raising merry hell about it

This is a key element for me, given the scale of the accusations being made against the club, if we were found guilty of the most serious charges then potentially people are going to jail.
Not sure about that because before you get there you would have to have a criminal trial where the standard of proof is higher. I agree that in itself what is alleged is gaol-worthy, but the chances of it being proven to the criminal standard are vanishingly small

Anybody else feel uncomfortable when Gray said to Hairy hands “knowing what you know”??
Not really.
And to be honest the only two things that made me laugh from that was Silvestre saying great it's a better chance for everyone if we get a points deduction and Andy Gray saying the same.
I thought it was a reasonable discussion from 3 pundits discussing the charges.
No biggie.

To be fair someone being daft enough to sponsor United for more than they should doesn’t make it dodgy. I don’t see how it can be what’s the advantage what’s the links / connection.

What are the details of the Everton sponsorship ? Was it pre initial invasion or pre full invasion ? How much ? What where they supposed to do I am not sure anything war like is especially foreseeable or what you normally think about. Are there insurance policies for this ? Why have they Everton not challenged it more ?

When a simpleton like me reads a post like this. I just can't understand what the pl are playing at. The pl must have shed loads of shit on these very high profile powerful business people, to be calling them liers.
It’s mind-boggling. If City were guilty it would involve a conspiracy involving scores of people as well as all these senior directors. What possible evidence can the PL leadership have for these claims. It is just madness.

Not sure I agree. There would be no direct interference with the Panel but I would think the UK Govt would not want the UAE to be totally pissed off if for example we got a severe penalty resulting in relegation. I am coming around to the conclusion that we may face a 30 or 40 point penalty if the majority of the charges stick. This is not likely to be enough to relegate us but will of course put us out of Europe.

Any punishment would be proportionate to the volume and seriousness of any breaches.

Nothing else would come into it.

No facts though just guilty anyway and we already knew that

I read on here that a PL executive had resigned because 'certain clubs had too much influence'; who was that?
