Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

As long as the club know his final date with plenty of time to make a new appointment, that is stable enough. The one thing that is difficult is the players’ motivation. We saw the drop off when Pellers was known to be leaving and the same has happened at other clubs.
Somebody is going to have to show great courage to succeed Pep. I’m free.
If he is leaving, there is never a good time to announce that someone of his stature is off.
Sooner rather than later for me, very rarely get fairytale endings in football as Klopp found out.

I was talking to my son about this last night after the game.

Pep sounds like he'll be in charge of the club World Cup in July, and I find it inconceivable that the club would allow that if he isn't staying, as surely that tournament would be ideal for the new manager to bed in.

Consequntly I think he'll sign an extension (hopefully longer than 1 year), I'm sure someone said maybe during one of the two International breaks that are coming up. Fingers and toes all crossed that he does extend.

Last time pep extended it was during November international break if I remember correctly. I expect the same this time

No chance.

Win the lot, or as much as you can with a motivated squad then do it if that's what it will be.

For me, I'd offer him a year off, interm manager and back he comes.

Pep is that special to warrant such a bizarre decision.

I bet people would be queueing up to take an interim job for one year only either side of the best coach there has ever been. Anyone wanting that job would be bizarre

I think its almost certain he will announce one way or another soon (next month or so).
My feel based on nothing but watching him and the squad is that he will leave at the end of this contract. Hope I'm wrong and the ideal is he renews for another three years so he has chance to build the next team but I doubt very much that is going to happen.

I’m erring towards this side. Preparing for the worst but hoping for the best lol

Said that was planned but that he is also considering staying

So he is back tracking and covering himself as Sam and a few others broke the news during the last parade that he was off. So if he stays they’ll just say he changed his mind. Yeah ok.

His comments on our matches not been postponed next season give me hope he’s already thought about it. He does obviously need to tell the management within the next few months to get searching for a replacement. I don’t think he will want to leave with a whimper either, so will be pushing for that second CL.

My feeling based on nothing but watching him and the squad (and contrarty to the media rumours and interpretation) is that he will extend. Feelings, eh.

Either way, I take him at his word that nothing is set or decided yet, and that the discussions he has when he sits with the club are going to be open and honest. I'm not buying this theory that everyone around the club already knows he is off.

We are going to need a midfield re-build in next two years max.

KDB, Bernardo, Gundogan, Nunes.

Does Pep have the desire to want to oversee it, or is this the perfect time to bring someone else in?

If so, IMHO, the club must surely be looking at Thomas Frank?

It probably just reflects my mood at present which is entirely on me. Hope you are right mate.
