Txiki Begiristain | Has left the club after 13 years (pg50)

we play Sporting soon in CL in Portugal early November, I guess there will be some meeting there in the background. Maybe Viana will be on the plane back to Manchester or at least the signed contract in Txiki's dossier if he is the chosen one.

My hope is that City have built the foundations & have the forward planning in place for a time like this. If true, I think Txiki's departure wouldn't be a sudden decision. I hope he'd have made his intentions known very early, giving us time to identify a successor who could shadow him for a period of time before stepping into his boots.

We've a global scouting network & a huge professional team who operate a class leading corporate sporting infrastructure. I also think Txiki will be at the end of the phone to offer help & advice if ever needed. He's 60 & been at the highest level of football all his life. He deserves his retirement & to go out at the top, on his terms, & at a time of his choosing.

Txiki is part of the triumvate who brought a level of unprecedented success to City that I never thought I'd see in my lifetime.

I suppose now we'll see the level of City's succession planning. Txiki will be a hard, but not impossible act to follow if we have the right foundations & infrastructure in place.

I'll forever be grateful for what he's done for me as a Manchester City fan, & for the City of Manchester too. We'll forever be in his debt.

Berrada will try to hire him lol. imo the fucker already wishes he didnt leave they made him a CEO but also got in another board members good friends of Ratcliffe who he has to talk to, and they may even tell him to do one if they dont agree. it looks like he is CEO with a third of power than joker Woodward had and also has tax-king Jim being very active in the media too.

its like we would bring in 2-3 more guys for Soriano to work with the make decisions with rather than him making decisions haha and Mansour also walking into the offices every day and watching him lol.

on the other hand the theory Berrada is our mole to create issues and make sure rags wont improve is also worthy of consideration. :)

Very quickly sorted as expected, and great that he’ll have a 6 month handover period to ensure the smoothest of transitions. I wonder if we’ll see a 17/18 style transfer window next summer with a handful of relatively young, promising players coming in to freshen up the squad

i will hold my hand up and admit i blamed txiki and the other guy from barcelona, his name escapes me, for some of the things that happened years ago with the sacking of mancini prior to the final, exactly what his involvement was i don't know, so i will hold my hand up and admit i was wrong.
most of his work goes unnoticed except for the signings, of which his negotiation skills and getting deals over the line for the players Pep wanted is second to none.
Thankyou Txiki and i hope the 1894 group sort out a banner for you to show you our appreciation the the great work you've done the last 12 years or so

I’d love a couple of 2010 level signings next Summer:

Matchday thread won’t be the same after he is gone

Something major needs to happen because the squad has been allowed to age and replacements with a few exceptions have been below the standard required. To be honest Txiki has left a major rebuild for his replacement, that should never have been allowed to happen.

You can tell from Txiki’s name. Spanish and French names that have an ‘X’ in them are often Basque names.

Txiki is not his name. His name is Aitor.

Txiki is his nickname, wich means "small" in basque language.
