Bournemouth (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Seen so many people this week saying how can we have an injury crisis and John stones is fit… and would you believe it.. without any word from anybody he’s only injured again

Love Johnny Stones but his injuries are becoming a real problem now

I loved gundog in his last year, he was so inspirational. When I heard he was returning I was stoked. Some might say don't go back, and I have to agree, Hès been stinking the place out since he returned, though there's more pressure on him with Kevin out. almost as bad as Walker who looks shot. Anyway, up the blues, we are still second!

Kevin and Rodders mate. Bridge too far for anyone that tbf.

Problem with McAtee is that when he gets a chance, he doesn’t grab it and say you can’t drop me now. His performance against Spurs was lacklustre and I thought he was outshone by O’Reilly.

For me, Nunes needs to move into the middle now to see if he can do it there and Doku can come back in.
I would say Nunes should take the role Gvardiol has and the latter should move into central defence. We need Gvardiol to be able to pass forward from the back (no risk takers there means we are slow) and Nunes can also cover defensively.

We have to buy a CM I just dont think Kovacic is good enough. I realise Gundo and Foden having stinkers but the 6 is essential to our system and he wouldn’t have got in a city first 11 for the last decade now we are reliant on him. Not solely his fault but since we’ve been reliant on him we can’t keep a clean sheet. The happy clappers who said recruitment hadn’t been an issue this yeah have to admit it really is. No Alvarez replacement. No support for Rodri no Walker replacement all proving to be problematic now. I realise that’s our first loss but anyone who’s been going to games will surely admit we haven’t looked great in any game. Not got any pace or power and can’t put games to bed.
Agree. A Rodri back up in January is now essential. But we have missed KDB & Foden both of whom have not played well this season. But it’s only 10 games in & we’re still second without many of our top players.
Who do you think we should buy to solve the problem?

I think you’re all overreacting. Upcoming international break will do us some good.

I don’t know what people expect pep to do with such an injury hit and evidently knackered tiny squad, it’s unprecedented in his time here.

It’s a long season, calm down.

We’re asking too much of some players.

Gundogan and Kovacic should at best share a position. They aren’t up to 90 mins at tempo.

Walker may be coming back from injury but that was shades of Maicon vs Bale today.

We’re smothering Foden and Bernardo looks wasted too. Needs switching.

We’re paying the price for 4 or 5 years of high intensity, high quality football, physically and mentally.
Dissapointing yes, but I think Pep and his staff have got the toughest time ahead that they’re encountered at City, managing the squads fitness, schedule and recovery, not helped by insufficient rest in the last 2 closed seasons, which will again raise its head in June and July next year.

We usually put some crap performances after internationals, but this time after all these injuries and niggles there is anybody barely fit to travel. Halland is not going to last beyond late November with this number of games.
I am still fortifying myself for possible unprecedented four losses in a row this time next Saturday.

Pep’s mantra when talking about younger players is they have to earn playing time and rightly so. The same standard has to be applied to more senior players as well.

I get that more senior, established players on a much longer leash but still. When their form has dipped, give them the shepards crook. If it’s a younger player then so be it.

2 points off the top and playing quite frankly shite football by our standards, lots of injured players and we usually come strong second half of the season! Ye we were poor but Bournemouth were very good and give them credit, come May we will still be up there or thereabouts.

No idea tbh. It seems that there’s a real like of talent available in fairness. Hopefully our scouts have some options. I think Wright looks a prospect tbf but he’s not ready yet.

As soon as teams press us panic sets in I thought 4 at back great keep it quiet whoops not a chance wide open
Then walking football even Eddie waiting till all back in position strange
When we did finally score no press for another sit off let the. Clear heads
Then 5 minute rush
All very surreal
