Lineker has been really good in fairness. End of an era.

Please please please do not have a perminant female presenter for mens football! Fuck no.
I do not need it rammed down my throat.

Nor should they include women's football highlights within the show outside of maybe a 'segment'.

They dont need a presenter, it is a redundant position, they did it without a presenter when lineker had his little tantrum and it did just fine and it would going forward, pundits are entirely unnecessary and bring so little to the table, i can see the game and there has never been and never will be a time where some idiot ex footballer sheds light and comes up with anything that hasnt already been seen, the only reason they are there now is to tell us what to think about the game and push a narrative.

I think that was just curiosity value though. I personal don’t think it would keep up enough viewers to justify its existence, if that became the norm.

They are going to make it into a program that shows both male and female matches and are going to have a loose women like panel who gibber about anything but football.

I can see the BBC murdering this program like they did to Dr Who.

Same, i fell out of love with the game when var was brought in , i stopped watching all games but ours , given we know how they edit our games i have no time watching the same done to the other games

I miss the days (70s-90s) when it was compulsive viewing and pretty much the only highlights package available, but there are just too many alternatives now.

Same. 3 minute highlight clips available on YouTube within an hour of the final whistle. Without the need to listen to Shearer, Wright, Murphy, Richards et al spouting their inane waffle.

I probably gave it away. I've thought for a long time the programme would be better without him and the others. It has needed a refresh for a long time. Then he decided to voice his political opinions and I find him a condescending smug **** now.

I have access to all the other channels but still like to watch Match of the Day most weeks. I suspect a lot of people are the same.

Maybe partly out of habit but also Sky have never really put together a similar type of highlights show, with all the goals from the day, with a bit of chatter.

They had that Sunday morning programme with Chris Kamara that was ok. But it went on for hours. Not really comparable to a neat little one hour or so package like MotD.

Now TV or Optus show all the games and goals on a sunday if theres a prem game on
