Why is Putins threats this time any more serious than the last 15/20 times he’s threatened nukes?

The West are not sending missiles into Russia. Ukraine are. you struggling to understand that part? Russia are using Iranian drones and missiles hitting Ukraine targets, that isnt Iran attacking Ukraine is it?! That is Russia using weapons supplied by them.

If the West were doing it we wouldn't be sending 30 year old surplus missiles thats for sure.

Looks like some on here are pretty young and weren't alive through the cold war. Admittedly the situation with Russia and Ukraine is terrible and the international tension this causes is decidedly unpalatable. But the west and Russians have been in similar situations before.

I recall the yanks supplying the Majahideen with Stingers and other sophisticated weaponry which resulted in the Soviet withdrawal from Afganistan after they lost 50k odd men. There was no nuclear strike then and there won't be now.

Putin also knows he would lose China's support even if he used just tactical Nuclear weapons. There would be no way back for him at any level.

No idea what you mean there to be honest.

Russia has been firing Iran / NK supplied drones and missiles into Ukraine for ages, That isn't Iran or NK attacking Ukraine. NK are now fully in the fight with boots on the ground however.

Same logic applies. Weapons supplied to/bought by Ukraine are being used by Ukraine to hit targets inside Russia, not the supplier of those weapons.

This is just another in the long line of rhetoric Putin has thrown out there over the years. Sent weapons and we'll nuke, Send tanks and we'll nuke, Send Missiles and we'll nuke, send planes and we'll nuke, Ukraine should exit Russia or we'll nuke...

us & the US are a direct allies of Ukraine no? Although we have launched them ourselves, we have had a directly supplied Ukraine with missiles used in the attack.

Putin has warned there will be consequences if this would prevail, so as many in here have alluded to, lets see if he is all talk.

We are supplying weapons for Ukraine to use, its that last part that is key. for UKRAINE TO USE. this is Ukraine using them. the same way Iran and NK have been supplying weapons for Russia to use. its not Iran or NK using them. its Russia using them. these 2 things are exactly the same.

Putin has warned there would be consequences at ever step of the way. no consequences have happened. why would this be any different?
 
edit, adding "in my opinion: :) If Russia does anything in terms of retaliation against the US it will be something small, probably in the Syria area of the world where there have been rising tensions between Russia and US for a while and Russia has been playing games with the US testing boundries etc.
