It’s a decision that should have been taken when Viana was appointed. We’re either going to overhaul the squad and bring in technically proficient players, or we’re going to overhaul the squad and bring in more physically expansive players. I hope it’s the former, as that would be truer to Guardiola’s principles. It’s not a predicament that can be solved in one window, however.
It was more or less solved in that one 17/18 window, but whether that's possible right now/after the verdict is handed down, I have no Idea.

We only need to focus on getting top four right now.

Should have scored more than once today, including before they scored, would we have won if he bagged? Probably not in all honesty. Other than that very first chance he had where he took an age to get a shot off and should have buried it, not sure it was neccesarily poor finishing from him, most efforts were decent efforts on target, few good saves. Not his best day by any stretch but anybody even contemplating him being an issue is mentally ill. We would be well and truly fucked without Haaland. A defender is the next best goal threat after him...

Games like yesterday are when he shows he needs to improve his game. He was up against Ben fucking Davies! He should be roughing him up, backing into him, standing next to him on crosses etc. but instead his game and attitude towards it didn’t change at all.

Ignoring the missed chances - they can happen and he’s bagged more than enough to have credit in the bank - he should be doing more and being a bigger physical presence against a weaker CB pairing than he was yesterday.

You could’ve been forgiven for thinking that was their main pairing. Not the pairing that was playing due to 2 injuries.

We were a better team before he came.
But time has moved on and, with or without him, we are a worse team now largely because key players are past their sell-by dates.

Where would we get goals from without him? Gvardiol has arguably been our next best striker in recent times.

Looks a frustrated player. A few times he indicated where he wanted that pass to run onto but our players are either not switched on at the moment or not skilled enough to make the pass. Yesterday he could've had a hat trick but Vicaro played his usual worldie against us.

Nah, even I'm not having that.
The midfield and creativity was better, certainly.
The players and the control of the game were far better.

We have not played to the big fellas strengths, he needs the ball early, he is a physical beast but the way we play now 90% of the game he is facing the wrong goal.

Defeat against Tottenham is not down to Haaland not putting the ball in the net. The chances he did not put away are nothing to worry about. When he is not getting chances is the time to worry.

The next game he starts he will expect himself to get a hattrick and the game after that the same. He backs himself and if he doesn’t score he will be frustrated but he will continue to back himself, that is what good strikers do.

on attacking players (att. midfielders, wingers, strikers) the breakdown of goals after 12 rounds in PL:
Haaland 12
Doku 1
KDB 1
rest (Bernardo, Grealish, Savinho, Foden, Gundo): total sum of fat fuck zero goals, but these players actually need to go the extra mile in scoring to compensate for the decent numbers lost of Rodri and J. Alvarez

it tells me one thing if Haaland gets injured for 2/3 months we can look into the Thursday schedule for Europa League next season.
but then even more mind boggling to sanction the Alvarez sale and Delap sale with no incoming attacker (because supposedly they would be unhappy with game time, then we sell them at a profit like Alvarez or Jesus ffs but in the meantime they help us)

Hard to fault him overall. Sure he has bad games like any player but 17 in goals in 18 games this season shows he's still consistent even when the team isn't.

We would be fucked without him this season because pretty much all the other attacking players haven't been able to hit a cow's arse with a banjo.

It should put to bed the stupid argument we are a better team without him, play better and that other players would chip in and make up for his goals if he didn't start. Who would've done that this season? Bernado? Phil?

We've been shite and his ability to score was a big part of dragging us through the early part of the season and why we're still second in the league instead of mid table.
