Anyone who arrived in Jan been a bust immediately (1st team not CFG) ? Laporte, Alvarez, Jesus? All hit the ground running
We had the luxury having extra players to help settle and the other two joined the squad preseason. Any current mid-season signings it is defintetly sink or swim.

Another striker is the least of our priorities. We had the likes of Jesus and Alavrez (who did show flashes) but not enough to move Haaland out of the team or not quite good enough to really nail down a place. It is near enough impossible to find a player who is content in being cover. Veterans who are winding down their careers could fit the bill but again would they want lesser wagers or a role. Same with up and coming strikers as well.
We 100 percent need a back up striker mate as we can’t go into a season with 60 odd games hoping that Haaland can stay fit . We are on if the best teans in the world yet we have one striker .

Still has to settle and it is a huge risk to make that move midseason especially with us struggling for form. There is no wriggle room for him to fully acclmatise. His agent would probably advise him to stay put until the end of the season see if there is more interestered clubs
Risk for who? Why would his agent do that given the chance we may look elsewhere in summer. Too much is made of this acclimatise stuff in my mind.

For full back I hope we are looking at Leif Davis. He’s been a bright spark for Ipswich looks very good.
Dont know much about him, I just think Kerkez has already established himself in the prem and young enough to still massively improve.
So, that would be a squad of:

Ederson
Ortega
Carson

Frimpong
Kerkez
Akanji
Ake
Stones
Gvardiol
Dias

Kovacic
Bernardo
Rodri
Guimaraes
Zubimendi
Nunes

Grealish
Doku
Savinho
Bobb
Musiala
Foden

Haaland
Cunha/Mbeumo

I like it but I think Lewis probably stays as backup RB. If he does then you have your 25-man squad right there.
If it were up to me I'd sell him. He hasn't convinced in any position he's played this season and he gets targeted by opposition because of his lack of athleticism. He'd also be pure profit if we sold for ffp.

One of Bernardo or Grealish may also leave but more likely summer 2026.

Read that Benfica are dissatisfied with Kabore already and want to terminate his season-long deal in the window. He’s currently on the bench for their game against Monaco.

In our current situation it wouldn't be the wisest of decisions he would be expected to adapt straight away and we are short in numbers. He is in a much better situation at his current club.

i correct myself, Alvarez did, the other 2 arrived in the Jan with no preseason and hit the ground running.
With Jesus we still had Aguero, Sane, Ihanacho, and Sterling as well and a few others who could chip in to really help to bed in and we were miles off winning the league so little less pressure to adapt.

Finding one content in being part of a squad is a huge stumbling block

But then we back to looking for that elusive cover for Haaland.
Why does that matter? If the cover is a player who comes for 2 years, scores and assists, cost £14 million and we sell for £80 million, what's the issue? He can have different cover every year if we use loans, old players who want to join the coaching team after final year playing, or promoting youth players.

It does if we are constantly looking for replacement as the next squad striker wants to leave through lack of time. I would rather first and foremost get the most out of the rest of the players to start chipping more regularly. Foden is more than capable of playing the false 9 once he gets out of his current rut.

I’m starting to think you’re a wum
Far from it. A lot are expecting too much in January that is all. I don't think we would be if we are wanting cover then that is the type of signing is more realstic mid season. Get our current set of players fit is the priority before any signings.

OTAMENDI. You gotta be kidding me. RAY. THAT IS THE WORST SUGGESTION AND IT IS SHOCKING THAT YOU ARE SUGGESTING IT!
For the short term. I don't think he would come back and I don't think we will entertain that either.

Sorry re-signing Otamendi is more realistic? In what world?

For all sane posters that read this thread, I’d like to make it known that I wasn’t suggesting we brought a 46 year old Otamendi back!
But if we are meant to be short as we aren't getting a long term signing mid season. Get to the summer and get the better targets in then.
