Adam Wharton

From what I've seen this season so far which to be fair isn't that much of him he's not particularly impressed.

Maybe he's suffering from where he is or he's at his level as just a decent young player.
It's almost as if he was completely overhyped in the summer by those absolutely desperate for someone, anyone to come in and be Rodri's cover.

Clearly he's a lad with potential but not long ago buzz words like GENERATIONAL and fees of £70m+ were being thrown about.

The feeling on here in the summer was that City were interested but were waiting at least a year to see how he develops. We're probably now seeing why that is the case.

From what I've read, he's been playing with injury this season

We got Laporte and Julian in January.

We almost had Riyad in January too but Leicester created hell to keep him another 5 months.
We secured Alavrez in the Summer and allowed him to finish his season at River Plate and Atheltic Bilbao were miles of the pace in January after Laporte initally rejected joining us in the 2017 window.

Might as well play Perrone. Quite similar stylistically, the major difference is one of them is English. Need someone who can strengthen the team immediately, don’t think Wharton does that just yet

This lad is miles clear of Kalvin Phillips
Maybe. But when we signed Silva he was already a fixture in a very good Spanish side.
Yaya played for Barca. Kev was player of the year in Germany. Dinho had loads of CL experience. Rodri played for Atlético Madrid.
Bernie had shone for Monaco. Gundo champions league finalist with Dortmund.

I think we need a couple of midfielders who've done stuff, preferably at the same sort of age as the above when we signed them.

I think the key thing is that we need to buy players who are smart of mind.

Skill only gets you so far. What’s behind the ears creates the superstars.

I didn’t fancy Phillips at all. He has since gone on to have been shown as a terrible signing. He was though, signed on the back of a successful campaign for England. How is this player ‘clear’ of Phillips, he’s done nothing and looks below average to me??????
Meteoric rise to the Premier League. Taken to the Euros after being at Palace for 5 months

Great at breaking the lines, forward passing, tempo setting. Strong across the midfield

Wharton will be a top player

Get someone slightly more experienced in addition to Wharton and our midfield will have been nicely future proofed
