PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

From Delooney in the Independent today:

While a minority within the Premier League are pushing for expulsion if the most serious charges are proven, that is currently seen as an unlikely possibility. Such an outcome would require a special shareholders meeting and vote of 15.

Is that correct?? There is a (slim) chance that our future could be decided by a vote in a room full of executives who predominantly despise us?
No, Deloney is chatting shite for a change. It’s up to the IC

He genuinely didn't. He went early. The Club were always confident but I can assure you, they didn't know the verdict until it dropped and the celebrations from the entire executive were as a result of that.

The Club were extremely disappointed with Ian Cheeseman at the time and couldn't believe he would have gone out on a limb like that.

I know he is long-term friends with Chris Bailey, who is a great bloke, but know even he was shocked by Cheesy trying to launch his new career that way.

He may well have heard something from Chris, who has the ear of our Chairman, but it was only recently someone else claiming to know Chris, claiming we were only being done for non-cooperation!!

I very much doubt Chris would be stupid enough to betray any type of confidence from Khaldoon!
To be honest, I’d be very surprised if City didn’t have prior notice of the outcome before it was made public. As I understand it, and perhaps someone who knows their onions on this kind of thing such as @petrusha or @slbsn can clarify, the verdict would be communicated in advance to both parties so they could correct any errors, etc.

There were also various indicators outside of Ian Cheeseman’s tweet in the days and weeks leading up to the announcement that suggested it had gone our way:

1) Pep’s body language and not so cryptic words in interviews
2) After we beat Liverpool 4-0 at home, someone posted on here (you I think!) that Liverpool execs left the Etihad that evening in a not very good mood and implied it was to do with the CAS case
3) I myself received a WhatsApp message off a mate on the Sunday night before the verdict became public. It was a message from his mate who said he’d heard that we’d won the case. His mate’s source was someone involved in running one of the OSC branches whose daughter worked at City. She said the staff were informed on the Friday afternoon before the announcement and then he went telling everyone down the pub on the Saturday while pissed up ;) I posted that info on here on the Sunday night after I heard it and still have the message on my phone

They’re the ones I’m aware of but there may well be others. I don’t have an issue with anyone debunking this latest stuff from Cheesy as looking at what stage the case is currently at, it doesn’t stack up. However, after he posted the CAS tweet there seemed to be a few prominent City fans with social media accounts - not you by the way - who not only tried to discredit his info, but also tried to discredit his character to the point that it was nothing short of disturbing. I remember one poster on here - Billy Shears - being involved with the pile on. He implied that Cheesy was involved in something quite sinister. I won’t go into the details as the posts were rightfully deleted but when I asked him to elaborate, he said “I’ll PM you”. To this day, that PM hasn’t arrived.

He got the big one right with the CAS decision.

No idea what the rest of his ITK track record is ??
Recycles rumours from his ex colleagues at the BBC - maybe too much. City stopped backing his Vlogs and he took that hard I think, maybe less approving of our owners these days, it's understandable.

Wow! A laser guided post that hits every culpable nail on the head. Please tell us all what more you have to say, and please keep posting - your view on what is happening and what might be happening is life blood to all Blues.
Thought exactly as you said, I await the next episode and see a film of the events as Peter describes them developing.

All I will say is that Cheesy was delivering a verdict before our Execs had told Pep.

In the run up to the verdict, it was very bullish, as it is now.

My own confidence came from Khaldoon telling someone there was no way we would be found guilty- four months before a verdict.

The Liverpool Directors was posted by me but it was again someone passing on an opinion after they had been in the Chairman's Lounge.

That's very different from being definitive, the law should never be second guessed.

If it were indeed the case that someone had information relating to a 40 point fine, they would be able to live off the proceeds for the next couple of years, because I know two desks who would pay six figures for it tomorrow.

I do know what Billy Shears was alluding to, sadly, but it is very personal for him and the position he holds.

I wouldn't put too much on body language right now, both sets of lawyers were smiling going into the hearing, that's how ridiculous is can be.

I don't know who Cheesy has got such specific info from but when I checked it, they joked could we tell our own counsel, which put me at ease!

If the story told on Sunday from the same source had been the opposite - that the case was still born - no charges had stuck and was all over there would be hundreds of extra pages on here with everybody shouting from the rooftops believing it.

It doesnt add up with the case ongoing but the source has been told by someone that it’s not going well.

We can call it bullshit but I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t be making it up about whoever has told him.

it's absolutely bullshit. No one at City or the PL will know any result yet. Maybe if the stories came out in a couple of months time but not now.

Sorry to put a dampener on things this morning after getting back to winning ways but just thought I’d share this. One of our lot was telling me last night that he heard on Sunday from someone at Anfield that 50-odd charges have fallen away but they’re going to find against us on some of the others, and we’re getting a 40 point deduction. Now if this “someone” was a random bloke, then obviously I wouldn’t even be giving it the time of day, let alone posting it on here. However, we all know or have at least heard of this “someone” - who I won’t name but I’m sure some will be able to work out who it is - and he told my mate that he’d heard this from a contact “high up at the club”.

Anyway, this mate who heard this said he naturally wasn’t in the best of moods as the second half kicked off! However, he has plenty of other contacts in the media and at the club. One of his media contacts is someone who’s been his mate for the past 30-odd years and again is someone we all know as he errr, cough cough, posts on here ;) So he asked him if he’d heard anything about this so-called 40 point deduction. The answer he got back was along the lines of “That’s bollocks as they’ve not even done the summing up yet!”. This is a fair point as while I think both sides might have an inkling of how things are going at this stage, if the summing up hasn’t even started (or is just starting going off the pics that have been posted on here), let alone the panel then sitting down and spending months deliberating, I can’t see how anyone would know at this point in time what our punishment - if there is to be any - would be.

Like I say, sorry for the seemingly negative post but I think it’s only fair that info from sources should be shared regardless of whether it’s positive or negative.
If that was true why is the case still proceeding?

Those desks won’t be Der Spiegel and New York Times. They either get it leaked to them or passed on via hacked emails, allegedly.

Must admit I did think back in the day that he bet everything on an educated guess with his CAS post.

I recall he was a bit of a joke figure at that time. Sacked by the BBC yet bizarrely still turning up at City pressers for Radio Tameside or some Indian digital channel or something.

Felt like his CAS was a last throw of the dice for some kind of credibility amongst blues’s.
