We need a defensive midfielder, a right sided defender and a goalscoring left winger who can play up front. All of them need to be good enough to step straight into the side and make a difference.

I haven't mentioned the term pure defender either - that's the 2nd thing you have ascribed that isn't true. I stated our situation regarding having 2 injury prone CBs, Walker being past it and Lewis getting bullied. Just last week I mentioned needing a CB who can play as fullback.

We may have to try and make do with players we can get in Jan before making a a very big impact in the summer. RB: Frimpong, Kimmich (who can cover both DM and RB next season)
DM: guimaraes but can also play 8 next season, ederson, Zubimendi. Zubimendi has a release clause but the others will be expensive but gettable
RW/ No9: Rodrygo from Madrid looks like a good move but I’m always suspicious buying players Madrid are willing to let go.
