United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Grealish 1 goal in 6 games? I know, its averages, but he has not scored exactly 12 months today in the league. and the way he plays and rarely even takes a shot that is not blocked by the first defender not sure December 2025 we will be still waiting for his next PL goal or not.
He is tosh

I've seen so much recently of our players panicking and 'pointing' to where the player might be going - expecting someone else to sort things out. We were never like this in previous seasons.
We were saying this at the game earlier. Players used to know where everyone else was and where the ball was going. Now a player will get the ball and look around before passing the buck and playing the safe pass.

Worst derby i've ever seen and there were some bad ones back in the day. All City players but especially Pep should hang their heads in shame. We are relegation fodder.
Seven/eight years of winning trophies and reinventing football in this country. Four months of poor form - poor form from players who aren't fully fit. Not bad is it. We have to suck it up this season and give the team loud support after everything they've given us. Some of our fans are acting like spoilt brats. Every mistake (and we're making a weird number) is getting punished but I would never turn on my team - and I've been going since the 60s so I've seen it all. Sixteen games in and the table doesn't lie - every team is exactly where they deserve to be.

Maybe that‘s the answer: There are many injuries, Nunes has to play LB, Gvardiol (not in form) has to play, because Ake and Stones are injured or not 100% fit, Dias is okay, Walker has to play (not in form), because there is no replacement, Gündogan is playing as a 6, which is not his position, Doku was injured, de Bruyne was injured, Foden was injured, etc., what do you ecpect of them? Pep has no options to put Walker, Gündogan etc. on the bench, because we have no options. Deal with it, no team out there was the best over 30 years, no team, be thankful with the last years, what we achieved, it was not normal and not of course! They gave us so much, when we maybe had bad times, so give them something back in their bad times.
I totally agree with you. But there are fans on here label those of us who support the team no matter what as 'happy clappers'. We have some real spoilt brats in our fan base unfortunately. Yes, the page is turning on some stellar careers, and like you say, the success and style has been surreal - the team needs our support more than ever.

I despair.

OK, it's just a licckle blip. It's not a direction of travel or discernable trajectory. We don't have aged players and thanks to excellent planning, we have a plethora of back up for every position. The fact that we were good before, is cast iron proof that we will continue to be brilliant once this pesky run of bad luck is over. Being shit in the past, puts all this in perspective and therefore OK.
Spoiled people should jog on, gedding behind der lads is all that's needed.

The buck stops with the players.

Each one to a man is playing fucking awful and need to get a grip.

How long can we use the fatigue or injuries or old line? I’m happy to do it but expect an end at some point.

Pep can maybe help by trying a new formation at least.

We need to bypass midfield. The players can’t build from the back and can’t get back quick enough to stop counters but then again why should he change approach because they can’t or won’t do what’s required?

Back to the players, players, players!!!
I would like them to discuss why they think it’s ok to play this badly for so long now?

No idea going forward, no real pattern of attack, set piece awful. Not pressing properly or stopping players running through midfield. No communication.

In short, yes we have problems, you are tired, injured and old but at some point you need to shake out of this rut. We all go through bad patches.

I will be patient but it’s starting to run thin I must admit. Grow a pair and sort it out. Stop hiding behind the manager.
I agree all the players and Pep/coaches need to grow a pair and stop playing/acting like wimps. What we are seeing on the pitch is not City, sort it out that’s why your all paid very, very big bucks. Time to earn your corn and stop stinking the place out.

Why do we look so unfit? We had an extra days rest than them yet their press and work rate was better than ours. When the results are not going well, you have to dig in and work hard. We are not working hard enough.

Why did pep take so long to get the fucking subs on too. Both Grealish and Stones seemed to be waiting to come on for ages.

Grealish has 1 Champions league, 3 premier league titles, 1 FA Cup, 1 UEFA super cup and 1 FIFA club World Cup. In three years. Let that sink in…

For context.. you can’t win forever!

A rather extraordinary take. You are mixing the accolade earned by the ability/performance of the entire team of players and the staff/the club with that of one individual player.

And also some fans. He was not bad today, playing in a position, which is not his prefered one. Yes, the penalty was his fault, stupid, but they are fucking humans, everybody of us made some mistakes.
What is his natural position - I don’t have a clue ?

He’s not a holder, he can’t tackle, shoot, run past a player - he’s not a no10 it’s not on the left or the right - just what the f**k is Nunes ?

They were great, so was Franny Buzzer and the king, now they need to move on, it shouldn't have come to this Pep Txiki whoever
Just all too slow the fuck ups are just a result of it

Nah, it's the execution that's the issue. You can see it watching on TV.

Players in the wrong place, getting each others way, not making the little movements into space etc.

Classic collective loss of confidence and playing with fear.

Combined with the injuries and ageing key players, it's a perfect storm.
Reaction time by some is sad to see...

Performance was so bad. Boring, tired, lazy and dumb.

This season is just unbearably disappointing. I guess FYCs like me need this, eh?

Kevs finished , hurts to say that but that injury he's got is horrible, i didn't know what it was but looked up sports hernia, it's a nasty injury , how he can even play a little on the pitch is a miracle. Explains him not being in the team much this season

a chronic groin pain condition that affects athletes

" Sports hernias often cause immediate and severe pain in the lower abdomen and/or groin, especially during twisting movements. The pain may improve with rest but return when you resume activity.

A sports hernia won't heal on its own, but surgery may not be required. Because the injury doesn't involve herniation, it can sometimes heal with rest, physical therapy, and the use of anti-inflammatory medications. That's not always the case, though, and surgery may be necessary to fully resolve the injury."
Sounds about right, KDB is a shadow of his former self. Walker embarrassed himself, again.Come the transfer window any selling team will massively increase the cost for even average players.

There’s a pattern that’s developed….
We are conceding late in games, we rarely ever conceded in the last third of the game, but just lately we look jaded after an hour and get sloppy, errors creep in and it has cost us dearly. Is this due to players running out of steam, lack of confidence, weak mentality or just a temporary lack of form?

Bournemouth was our first loss in 32 games (Thirty two). We were top!
Brighton, leading until 78th minute then concede twice in quick succession.
Feyenoord 3-0 up in 76th minute then concede three in quick succession
Spurs late goal
Liverpool late goal
Today, tops it all. Leading our bitter rivals in the 88th minute and conceded twice in final two minutes.

We looked very nervy after about an hour today and we settled into a negative pattern and this gave them the initiative. Worth noting that the penalty came from our corner in the 88th minute. A shite corner, but we retained posession and ended up passing it about to the last man, Nunes, who then committed hari kari. From the resulting KO, we nearly fucked it up again! Then, Gvardiol and Nunes let Diallo run between them…. Gvardiol should have stopped that scuffed shot too. Villa is now a huge watershed for us, lose that and lose to Everton and CL qualification is on the line for sure.
