United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

It's a temporary situation.. Happens to all great clubs..A timely reminder to not take elite success for granted..

I don't know if it really is injuries, small squad, or if Pep has 'lost' them because he insists on persisting with tactics that are clearly not working any more. Yet when Gundo and Bernie are interviewed post match they make the right noises. It's all very baffling
I'm sick to death of the players 'making the right noises' after the game... and then absolutely nothing changes in the next game

stfu and start doing instead of talking about doing it

Any chance we can appeal to the FA for retrospective straight red for Nunes for the penalty incident tackle - 3 game ban - then on Jan 1st send him on a 6year loan to Doncaster Rovers and pack Doku in his suitcase with him too?

Thats bang out of order and you can fuck right off...
Nunes is not at the level we need, no debate about that... but...
He's in there doing his best, often filling in positions that aren't natural.
No player sets out to make a mistake like that.

You had an attacking midfielder having to make a last ditch tackle while playing left back. I'm with you, he fucked up and he knew it. Its shit but it happens.

You can also see it when Kev goes off, it's like the light goes out and then panic sets in. At 85 minutes 1-0 we should be cruising keeping the ball and putting them to sleep but we're just throwing it away.

I thought this last season. They really need the next David Silva/KDB to run the midfield and they need him now. KDB was showing his age last year not to mention the injury.

Just watched the highlights for a laugh.

One of the worst Manchester derbies for years.

Can't remember when BOTH teams were as bad on the same day as yesterday.

We are the most out of form team in the Premier league, along with the Saints.

The players looked devoid of any ideas yesterday. At one point Haaland smashed a ball clear in our box and raced past every player in our half, to pressure the United player who collected the ball. Some of our players were walking FFS.

Pep has definitely lost the players.

Either that or they are bored of him and his tactics, and have downed tools. This is not the City that used to compete in every game, and entertain. We are shot to pieces.

I don't think Janaury will solve anything really. Panic buys will not be the answer. The men upstairs have had years to plan and have failed. I don't know what we all expect when they now have weeks to save our season.

Some rags in the pub offered me bets yesterday that they would finish above us.

I'm starting to think that it could be a reality!!

As bad as things are one of the worst things yesterday was the fact that our captain is so seemingly devoid of leadership qualities.

We used to have real leaders. Even when we were pretty poor in terms of football quality or results.

This is another reason why change is needed. A new set of leaders need to emerge.
100%. Walker needs to be benched and Dias made captain immediately.

What is this nonsense?

The biggest thing for me is how we just can’t win the ball back quickly like we used to.
This is the crucial thing for me.

Yesterday, and against Spurs and in a few other games recently, I can hear myself saying "Second balls, City. Second balls!" over and over. Almost all of them are bouncing to opposition players. We're losing 50/50s constantly. It's all coming from Walker, Gundogan, and Bernardo (and, to a lesser extent, De Bruyne) just not having the stamina to chase and fight anymore. Throw an exhausted Gvardiol and Lewis into the equation and I think it's easy to see where the problems are coming from.

We usually beat teams by grinding them down, tiring them out, making sure they're doing all the running and chasing. We get to the ball first, we win it back quickly, we win it back high up the pitch. Sooner or later, the opposition tire out and gaps form, and that's where we strike. But this season we're losing the ball because Walker, Gundogan, and Bernardo have all lost a yard, so too has De Bruyne. It all adds up, hence a knackered Haaland and Foden not pressuring Martinez before Amad's winner last night.

Nearly as bad as the over exaggerated importance some attach to their "get behind the team" comments. Most of us do week in, week out. Not made much difference lately.

Zero energy or intensity yesterday against a team that had played 24 hours after us midweek.

And much further behind by the end of the season..we will turn it around somehow and regardless of anything they are fucking dire..not even a derby win can paper over that
Yes they are dire, but they managed to beat us in the Cup Final, were a minute away from beating us in the Community Shield Final and beat us yesterday. Frightening.

Morning all.
Wanted to sleep on yesterday before posting.
Firstly. Let's not dress it up. It was a shit game involving 2 very poor teams. We were in control until the 86th minute until we decided to yet again gift the opposition the equaliser.
Nunes never will be nor ever has been a city player. No one will ever convince me otherwise. That back pass was unforgivable and then to just clatter Diallo to give the penalty away was simply pathetic. He got back. Stand him up. Wait for others to try to get back but no he made another rash decision to dive in. Awful awful. He should have just put the ball into row Z and we reset...
The winner. Ederson totally at fault. The split second he stopped always gave Diallo the advantage. Ortega needs to be our number 1 moving forward. Ederson way to complacent now, and that breeds a lack of confidence in the defence. Gvardiol I thought he could have booted it off the line rather than try a flick but he played well along with Dias were the only 2 to come out with any credit.
Now a draw for me would have been acceptable with our play at the moment but no we GAVE the points to the rags.
Moving on. Let me address the elephant in the room.A certain Erling Haaland. Piss poor. No effort. Body language all wrong and this may sound a little off hilter but If we could get over 100 mill for him I would cash in. He does not work hard enough for me. Look at Isak at Newcastle. Works his bollocks off. I know many will disagree but thats my view. Even go back to a false 9.
Bernardo, Walker, KDB, Ederson, all have stayed a season to many for me. Bringing Gundogan back hasn't worked.
Savio Doku are young and I will reserve judgement. Nunes simply not at the levels required.
Grealish. Should be playing in the 10 role.
Squad neglected as it has been has certainly hurt us. That lands on Txiki I am afraid.
Pep has indefinite credit in the bank for me and anyone who doubts him need to seriously stop.
One word of advice. Don't read or listen to the media. They are loving it. Let them. It wont last forever. Target FA cup. Top 4, knockout c league.

See you at Villa,Everton and Leicester
