Discussing religion with kids

Religion should be taught in schools as part of the History curriculum as its obviously had a huge impact on the world. Telling kids that God is 100 percent real, teaching them to pray etc is out of order imo.
Let them work it out them for themselves.
Its not hard to figure out it's complete insantity

Teach them that anyone trying to use religion and co-opting God to gain political power is NOT to be trusted.

People who adhere to religions for reasons of faith and belief in the good of humanity also agree with this.

Man who believes in fantasy stories tells kids that another fantasy story is made up, gets told off for telling truth.

Irony alert fails to go off.
It is one thing for young innocent children to believe in fantasy it is a totally different thing for an adult to believe in fantasy.

The idiot should keep his gob shut instead of spoiling little children's innocence.

Typical though of god botherers.

That said 10 and 11 year olds believing in Santa and crying, yeh right.

Teach them about all religious and non-religious options without bias (if possible) and let them make their own minds up.
Nope. If you are at the point of understanding the nonsense that religion is, explain what religion is, but absolutely point out the nonsense that it is.

You wouldn’t leave your kids to decide whether standing in front of a car is good for them or not. You’d point out the danger.

Are there no benefits to believing in religion?

Some of the most intelligent people to have lived haven't found it to be nonsense. I doubt you could say the same about standing in front of a car.

If they thought it was the wrong way to believe then they wouldn't believe in it, would they?
Which makes it even more stupid.
If you cannot respect someone elses view, if you cannot be tolerant of other people different belief your religion cannot be that good.

It allows people to justify their bigotry I suppose.

And for those who need some sort of structured moral framework to prop up their lives because they can't understand the basic principle of "Just don't be a dick" without some dusty old story book to guide them it's probably quite useful.

Oh, and those who wish to be absolved of their sins...
