I honestly don’t know. Guessing, into the low £1000’s.

It was a ball ache to set up from L3, the correct way up, to drop it down to L2, put it into place, cable tie it in the hand rails, drop it down to L1, pull it back up, and put into into place in-between the L2 concrete wall and hand rails, ready to be dropped down again before the match started.

Well done to everyone from 1894 who helped out in the morning with the banner and the streamers.

I’m in 140 boarder of east and family and have been for 15 years now as i have a lot of good friends scattered about there and we have a beer before and at half time but I think I’m going to relocate at the end of the season as I’m sick to death of getting up to try and sing or get it going and you just get looked at like a **** it’s getting worse every season, people just want to sit and talk bollocks or sit on there phone

The best atmosphere home and away every season is the City-Liverpool rivalry.

Both teams have only won one game at each other’s stadium in Pep’s time at the club. We always shit ourselves at the Anfield atmosphere, our one win came when there were no fans. Alexander-Arnold has recently said Liverpool always feel the atmosphere at the Etihad and their one win came in a game they were already 3-0 up on aggregate when we were pushing for goals to get back into the tie.

Outside those two games neither City or Liverpool have won at each others grounds in 9 games each.

I’m utterly convinced that our 2-1 win at home to Liverpool in THAT game during the 2018/19 season was partly because of the atmosphere that night. It wasn’t so much the singing but the general hostility of the crowd towards their players. We never let up that might, save for about 2 minutes after they equalised. They were misplacing passes from the first minute and some of that was down to the fans getting on their backs.

it is and im very proud of it, but think all the banners is a bit cheesie, as fans we can sing our songs of glorious past achevements, anyway just my opinion.

¾ is being involved in every kick of the ball: every pass is a ‘BALL!’, every tackle and interception comes with punch in the air and a ‘YYEESS!’, every dribble it’s a ‘GO OOON!’, every throw in won there’s applause, every corner you get on your feet clap and cheer the taker, every shot comes with a ‘OOOOOOH!’, every bad referee decision comes with a ‘FUCK OFF!’, every opposition miss gets a ‘AAAAAAAAAAHH, YOU SHIT ****’…

When most of the ground are all doing that, that’s what makes the best atmospheres.

Your example of the Liverpool 2019 2-1 win was the epitome of that. Same with the Kompany 2012 1-0 derby win. Both games actually had little singing (some at the start of the game, some around our goals, some at the end of the game, but a huge amount of the fan involvement in the games.

Those atmospheres are the best kind of atmospheres in football, better than the best examples of Ultras atmospheres. You can’t beat the best English proper up-for-it atmospheres.

It definitely played a factor that night but like all great ‘British’ atmospheres it was very much triggered by the events on the pitch.

That game we were aggressive in the press and with the likes of Sane playing were always trying to get on the front foot. Still my favourite two years 2017-2019 watching the blues.

Although the fan base can certainly do more, it’s hard to jump out of your seat to a four yard square pass or slow drive forward.

I agree with you 100% but that type of atmosphere is a response to what goes on on the pitch. I got the impression before kickoff on Sunday the crowd were up for giving it all of that, but the tepid game on the pitch put a stop to it. If City had got after United at any point, the crowd would have got stuck right in. Unfortunately they didn’t.

I don't like the big screen showing previous matches against our opponents as they warm up. I think rubbing their noses in it before the game just gets them more determined !

I remember before away at Chelsea first game after we lost to them in Porto, jesus winner I believe. They were showing their top 5 Chelsea goals vs City.

Anyway they decided that the number 1 goal was the Havertz goal in the final, which was an absolutey shite goal! Made me chuckle a little, that felt like they were rubbing it in our faces!

I agree with this. It’s the roar of the crowd that makes an atmosphere that the players respond to. The only singing that makes a difference is that which goes around the stadium and fills the bowl. That’s why Pep gesticulates behind him when he wants more noise.
