Curious decision for Newscast (recorded this morning, before Musk said Farage needs replacing).

It's normally BBC journos - Kuennsberg, Grammaticus, and one other. This time they had Gawain Towler on, who while they didn't hide the fact, he is essentially a Reform spokesman (got 'fired' by September by Reform, but what from isn't clear to me).

It was odd, as for 15 minutes (before Towler went somewhere else) it was a Reform promo - Grammaticus (I think) tried to offer counterpoints, but Kuennsberg and Towler were almost in lockstep. Some interesting descriptions of the Reform jamboree in the last few days (lots of angry people, just not all angry about the same thing).

It seemed to me that thinking about what was said wasn't in fact a great advert for Reform being an important party, but was an explanation for the growth in numbers. No-one seems willing to compare those numbers with anything meaningful (does having more members than the Conservatives mean anything qualitatively as opposed to just quantitatively? It feels like apples and pears).

I have a feeling that we're going to see and hear a lot more from him as a 'neutral' now Tim Montgomerie has openly gone to Reform.

Also they pointed out that the 'tradition' is for the party leaders to be Kuennsberg's Sunday show on during January. Starmer declined to go on this weekend/first; I guess the next 3 Sundays will then see Starmer, Badenoch, Davey, one of the Green co-leaders and an SNP person.

There's a good web site allsides.com that shows an independent view of media bias. The BBC is bang centre. Daily Mail is shown as Right wing, Guardian is shown as Left wing.

I must admit I thought the Guardian is centre/left at best rather than left but it is an independent view.
