How do we resolve the Brexit mess?

Try years.
As its you asking I will have to reject that suggestion. I will miss

We shouldn't have referendums even though you all seemed to partake and would do again given the chance.

We should let the politicians decide because the public are too thick but obviously not thick enough to vote in terrible politicians to make those decisions.

Who gave us the referendum? One of these politicians who you think is more qualified in making decisions based on a flawed voting system that most of you partake and vote for at every election.

Complain about undeserved large majorities until you get the undeserved large majority you wanted.

Just scratching the surface really, carry on with gdp tweets and general moaning.

One day you may see it or do you already and need this particular echo chamber for self delusion?

Must be about a decade now? You lot have staying power I will give you that.

All valid points.
I might agree with some,
But silent on the shit,
No, not a single word
About the damage
Brexit's done,
You cannot shine that turd.

Unfortunately the shit isn't mine to clean I didn't vote for the last govt or this one. Your adult and superior is in now, a remainer to boot. I'm sure if he can hang on we will slide back into being in the EU in all but name.
And you lot will take it because its what you want and that's all that's important. Politicians seem a little scared of the whole subject though.

I don't mind people being pro EU im married to one and the debate finished years ago but as long as the purps carry on with the bigotry, hypocrisy and dislike of democracy I am entitled to comment.

Anyhow Ttfn.

long and short of it is a legal migrant on a work visa contributes £16300 to our economy a Brit £800 - thats the yearly figures. So yeah 900 odd thousand is a disaster unless you want to collapse your economy

A good example of how "average" needs care...

I presume before Brexit the average fiscal benefit per immigrant was less because EU citizens could come and take poorer-paid jobs than allowed now under the Skilled Worker scheme.

a bit confused there Vic. Pre-referendum Skilled migrants still took skilled jobs whether from the EU or outside it. At that time people were moaning about Polish builders undercutting them and at the same time claiming they were driving around in fancy cars because they hoovered up all the work. Back then it was all contradictory and a lot of lies - in any event those are official Govt figures and are frankly embarrassing to the UK

I'm guessing most EU citizens were here to work in hospitality, to improve their English, then go home. Or here doing rural seasonal work. Thus average wages of migrants would be lower - though if the pubs and farms can't find workers at all and businesses go bust that may underestimate their fiscal benefit.

I'm not sure what's embarrassing about the figures.

most of the complaints were the fabled Polish builders undercutting UK builder. When I was in Bournemouth I recall lots of Portuguese waiting staff who indeed came for the summer season then went home and came back next year - no local down there aside from the odd student doing a summer job and not going home it was all EU people. And thats how it worked - like a tide it came in it went out but of course Farage and Johnson and the rest only ever quoted the highest figs in the middle of summer to make their point.

Next Labour announcement! We are rejoining the EU ?
No. We are decades away from rejoining. There will have to be a general consensus from the majority of politicians and the population for such a move to be considered seriously in Brussels, and there are far too many Eurosceptics around at the moment for that to happen.

I'm in favour of the current government working towards closer ties with the EU. Our economy is suffering by being estranged from our closest trading partrners, and it makes perfect sense to me for our government to reduce the problems associated with our current arrangements.

Express and Mail readers may be frothing at the mouth about it, but they are being marginalised by an increasing majority that back closer ties with the EU as the errors of leaving permeate their brains.

Who knows what the world will look like in a couple of decades.

Edit;
I just had an idea, or maybe you could call it a brainfart. Depends where you’re coming from.

Perhaps the future will involve Ireland/NI/Scotland solving the shared history of NI Catholic/Protestant conundrum. The colonist’s/disposessed centuries old differences now, satisfying both traditions and history by forming the Federal Union of Celtic Kingdoms, or FUCK, for short.
Three separate authorities in Edinburgh Belfast and Dublin, with the seat of government to be discussed or maybe rotated.
NI and Scotland to be subsumed back into the EU and we’d still have a land border with the remains of the UK along Hadrians wall or wherever.

Of course it would involve multiple referenda, so you probably wouldn’t go for it.

I suspect there will only be an announcement when the deal has been reached by the usual amount of stealth and sleight of hand
We cannot rejoin the EU by stealth and sleight of hand.

As Brexit has been done, and democracy has thus been served, Leavers can't moan if we get as close to being members as we can...

I think we will be left with a choice regarding rejoining the EU far sooner than everyone thinks.
With Musk making a play on UK politics, I fully expect the Americans to try and fully absorb the UK into their orbit. That's bad news for both the EU and the UK.
I think we will be left with a choice over closer ties with the USA or the UK.
I hope the EU will be far more conciliatory in their tone with the UK and attempt to mend bridges.
We need closer ties with the EU and not with the USA.
We can't exist in isolation.

Some very good points, especially the ‘isolation’ bit. Only a theory but as more information comes out of the woodwork, it does look like certain powers want to see the UK isolated, and we allowed it to happen.
