It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

And Rodri didn't play in our first champions league final. That statement proves nothing. Pep was desperate to keep him, he was integral to our 4th title in a row and any suggestions otherwise is simply letting the current version of walker cloud your memories. He's just been getting nominations for the world's best 11 off the back of last season.

If we had the walker of 2 years ago now, we wouldn't be in the mess we currently find ourselves. Us no longer having that version of walker is the primary reason why we are so horrifically exposed to transitions.

Keeping him was not a mistake, keeping him as the only recognised fullback in the squad was the mistake.
Got to agree to disagree with you mate .

It made sense at the time, he was still the best right back in the world, we don't get 4 in a row without him. I suspect the second year was the only way we kept him. The mistake was not getting his replacement in before it was desperately needed. If we had another fullback at the club, he wouldn't be on the pitch enough to fuck up so much.
The club and Pep thought Rico was the replacement. And they misjudged.

I don’t think we are saying the same thing at all as your suggesting we realize a loss all be it a small one I am saying we won’t realize a loss we will sell for book value
My first sentence was "this deal is only going to happen if it would be something like 100m (Bruno G) & 50m (Nunes)".

Here is my take on the current situation.

Last summer we should have refreshed an ageing squad, we have got away with having a small squad for four years, which, with no injuries is fine, this is now catching up with the squad. We have never found a decent back up for Rodri and letting Alvarez go without a replacement was criminal by the management.

Add to that, all the injuries we have had this year has severely hampered the squad as we cannot rotate/rest the ageing players who are absolutely shattered.

For me, we need at least 3 signings in January just to give Haaland, Gundo, Silva a well earned rest, they are dead on there feet.

Dias should be made captain for the rest of the season as Walker is NOT a captain.

In the summer, breaks my heart to say this, but, KDB, WALKER, EDERSON, GUNDO, SILVA , SAVHINO, NUNEZ, MCATEE all need to be moved on, the first 5 have all past there best days unfortunately and the squad needs a rebuild.

The players that are fit are physically exhausted because of poor management decisions last summer and the reliance of Rodri and a small squad.

So after a spell of not playing well that’s 19 year old rico written off then?
No. It is the age gap.

Rico is not ready to be the replacement for Walker.

And Walker simply does not have legs to wait for Rico growth.

I guess the board wants to fast track Rico but Rico's body is not ready yet.

He may not have the qualities to be a dedicated top class RB either. Wait and see is the watchword with Rico I feel.

Out of all the positions the right back successor plan is the most baffling piece.

City once owned the candidates like Porro and Frimpong but ignored not even gave them a chance of try.

Terrible investment.

Same goes with central midfielders. We have plenty of candidates but never really invested any game time to get them ready when we were winning games. But invested all resources to transform a striker a right back a center back to be a center midfielder. In my eyes a striker or a right back has very little chance to become a top level midfielder. So why bother to invest the game time?

That is why I don't trust the current board to do the "rebuild". Some new eyes and fresh minds are needed.

I think a bit of a reset is needed but not sure in what capacity. It's clear a rebuild is required, and possibly a substantial one. The picture is becoming clearer during this horror run as to what positions need sorting. The RB slot is nearly top of the list.

Savinho LOL

If that’s the case we are well fucked then . Absolutely criminal giving Walker that contract .
I still maintain that when the squad gets its reset and we're back to performing well again, Walker and Gundo can be more than useful squad players next season for their final year

SAVHINO? really?
Maybe a little harsh, i just dont think he is physical enough for this league. If we had a fully fit squad he could build up to the challenges/physical demand, but due to the injuries he is being thrown in at the deep end.
