Absolute wank. We had 4 players missing from the squad, rodri isn't coming back this season so forget that. Bobb who I rate extremely highly has a grand total of about 10 minutes experience, Nunes he doesn't want to play in his position and even drops him from the side when he's winning player of the month so he clearly doesn't rate him, that leaves just dias. Who thinks we would have somehow won that game today had Dias been on the pitch?

He is directly responsible for the small squad, it's his preference to have no options, he wanted this, he hasn't got a leg to stand on when we lack options with minimal absentees.
Plays an obviously injured Stones instead of a fit Simpson, Stones proceeds to aggravate his injury, Pep comes out and says " I want my players back", he's just trolling at this point.

I'm not suggesting we park the bus but playing a high line with man for man pressing when we don't have anybody that can run is complete suicide. We've shown that every single game for the last few months, our opponents are very, very easily exploiting it and we are getting zero benefits out of it. We don't have the energy to put on an effective press, we don't have the midfield legs to cover gaps and we don't have the pace to cope with balls behind, I couldn't think of anything worse we could do right now than continue to play in this manner.

Scrap the abysmal press that leaves us wide open and at least make the opposition work to get a chance. Drop to the halfway out of possession. Go compact and press as a tight unit instead of sending 5 players into a token press that hardly ever results in a turnover and never results in a goal and is laughably easy to bypass and then leaves us defending almost every attack with between 3-5 players at most.

I also don't think the possession plan is doing anything, we can't break a side down so what good is 60-70% possession? We have the players suited for a more direct game we've got wingers, we've got kdb and foden behind the best striker on the planet, all those players can play and I'd argue thrive in a direct, quick attack over the slow ponderous one we currently opt for.

Maybe we still lose games but I just want to see an effort to remedy the massive problems we have and not simply repeat the same tactic that doesnt work and essentially rely on us being perfect, the opposition making mistakes to let us in and them also failing to successfully mount a meaningful attack all game despite all the space in the world afforded to them.
Thanks mate, it's ridiculous some people here bring up the park the bus nonsense when you point out the obvious flaws in this system.

That lad could’ve been playing for two months now and got loads of experience but no we keep waiting for John Glass to come back!

It's like he's asking to be sacked. Everything he's doing or more accurately, not doing is displaying the classic "already checked out and waiting for my pay off" mentality. If he wasn't pep guardiola it would have happened weeks ago. It's deeply troubling.
That’s not in his mentality. He’s just found himself in the shit and totally lacking in solutions for the first time in his career.

these comments are actually so much more concerning to me than the performance today

imo some nontactical things he could change to steady the ship/stop the freefall :

- reduce his negative emotional reactions on the bench during the game...players on the bench/pitch notice it & are even more afraid to do something wrong
- replace Lillo with a younger guy..Pep & Juanma are at least 20 years older than the oldest players & you can motivate players differently when you have the same vibe/"zeitgeist"
- reduce the time you speaking to the press
- stop overpraising the oppo
- in the nfl defense & offensive coach are sitting elsewhere to have a better overview during the game...perhaps we should apply this approach
soon 1 month ago & nothing changed...and again non-injury related subs when it`s too late

critism how he handles the academy players?.. perhaps but the majority of BM users & city fans didn`t care when we sold every academy prospect

he has to find a way to build up the confidence of the players...our players are capable to play a pass like Tielemans did before the first goal but they are too afraid

I believe i can top that on the stupidity meter. Going back to October he chose to start Stones, Dias and Ake with Lewis away to spurs in the carabao cup, a competition by his own admission we didn't want to be in for the sake of the squad health, didn't Dias and Ake pick up knocks in that game?

Not for a second suggesting that's the actual case. Just saying what we're getting from Pep right now is reminiscent of manager doing that. He's had 2 months to figure out a solution, we even had an international break in there, he's not once even tried something different in that time.

Understood, mate.

I don't think you should give up on him after 8 weeks of terrible form
I'm not, I know he's better than this, that's why I'm baffled by some of his decisions, he used to be the most ruthless manager around, he dropped Aguero when he was the best striker in the world, now he can't drop obviously finished players because they brought us success, that's not the Pep I know.

Lillo is slowly transforming into Cousillas

And Ake too, plays him consecutive 90 minutes and he's down again, not to mention playing Walker who by his own admission didn't train for 20 days, funny though he has stayed fit despite that which hasn't helped us at all, not wishing him to be injured but fuck me he's been awful.

Yeah like Palmer, Lavia, Rogers, Delap... all shite.
Palmer I would like to have kept. But it's hard to argue about his minutes when we are winning a treble.

The rest, clearly not good enough when they were here to get minutes in one of the best teams in the world. Doesnt mean they cant improve over time with regular minutes in a teams much worse than ours with little or no expectations of winning trophies.

Yes that infamous Spurs game, Stones and Dias were out after that, Ake played against Bournemouth and was out after that, total brainfart if there was ever one.

Not doing himself any favour's rushing stones back only to get injured again, and it was obvious we needed a sub right before their second, which was the same against juventus IIRC. And bernardo offered nothing all game and yet did another 90 mins?

That said. Back the boss. Support the team. Confidence is at an all time low throughout the squad and management it seems, and they need and deserve our support, but if Pep carries on making the same mistakes over and over then you wonder when we'll get out of this
