PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The players 'rot' started with the piss up before the cup final....complacency in plain and costly sight.

Then the Euro's finally exhausted players who'd played 4/5 seasons of intense 'cup finals' without proper r & r.

At the start of the season they were physically & mentally exhausted and when the first wobbly domino fell (Rodders) the rest fell one by one through unprecedented injury or illness.

The rest is now known as we enter a period of re fit, re build & re fresh which should encompass the entire football dept.

Our era of supremacy is paused, no stone must be unturned, no decision shirked, and no position unchallenged if we are to be a force again.

New DoF.
New Players.
New Stand.
New...........

REFIT...REBUILD...REFRESH....
EVERYWHERE !!
Which is exciting also to go again.

I am intrigued as to how we are going to negotiate the charges and build a world class squad again.

Hate us losing but apart of me is reinvigorated with what’s next?

All have done a magnificent job but we must now put all that aside and go again.

The club has been crowing about how it’s run and rightly so. Winning everything, while maintaining a healthy bottom line is absolutely fantastic. Khaldoon has every right to shout from the rooftops and did on a few occasions.

He did say something about other clubs failures and blaming city not so long ago.

Think it’s ok now to say we have failed to rebuild the squad. Apparently we plan in depth reports on players and forward plan 3/5 years in the future so why are we now scrambling around looking players and then when we do find them baulk at the fee?

Something dosent add up. We either plan or we lack a plan. It can’t be both. Recently it feels like we hobble along and react instead of being pro active.

Having a world class club off the pitch but not on it is spurs job and Arsenal to some extent hell even the rags can claim that title.

Unfortunately football matches are won on the pitch and that comes down to recruitment. For some bizzare reasons we are missing out on top talent and that is where the failure starts and ends.

Why don’t we buy Top tier talent anymore?
I understand timing is everything and can forgive the palmers of this world leaving. It is what it is but I want to know why we are basement shopping all the time now?

I still maintain collectively as a group they have failed. The line is thin and on this occasion we are in the wrong side of it.
I don't believe for one second that we have slumped because of players' fears over the 115 case but I think it is possible that some of our senior execs have just been exhausted by the relentless legal battle they have been involved in for years. It must have been a distraction at board level and maybe we took our eye off the ball.

They are only human. 115 impacts everything we do in some way.

I don’t believe it has anything to do with the team apart from the optics that we are not this moneybag state machine that we are accused of being.

It’s looks better to say we are net champions and stay within budget and not distort the market by stockpiling players.

Empires rise and fall…

Essentially means buying right and smart compared to our opponents. Even with pep we can’t get players over the line.

When i was working we re set our career clocks to zero every New Years Eve.

No credits.

No debits.

No long service or seniority status.

A clean, blank sheet for everyone.

We all had to start afresh.

It kept us sharp, honest, humble and hungry.

A lesson in life !!

Soriano is CEO of CFG, not CEO of Manchester City. He isn't running City when he's in New York, in continental Europe, or anywhere else CFG has a club.

He's the CEO of Manchester City. He has both titles. But he actually runs City on a day to day basis and spends most his time at our offices. Roel De Vries runs the day to day at CFG who also spends most of his time in Manchester.

I agree fully with your last two paragraphs and likewise it will be great to see what and who Pep and co can bring in.

They decided to build and fund a £300-400m stand and complex but decided not to buy any players? And bid £100m for Rice (for example) for a laugh whilst telling Pep there was nothing to worry about?
We didn’t bid for Rice this summer. And the investment in infrastructure could well have been seen as a priority. Financial resources and senior management time is limited.

Has to be a reason why we didn’t buy anyone. My theory is credible.

That doesn't seem realistic. Khaldoon doesn't manage the club, let alone the football side of it. Soriano and Begiristain decide what to spend and who on.
I doubt that’s the case ultimately. They will decide day to day, but if the big boss rings up and says no…

The saddest thing for me is the first time in my lifetime there is lack of individuals with real Manchester City connections. I get football clubs are businesses, but I'm bored of hearing about CFG. Maybe part of our problem is the finances and resources of the group are spread to thin. I'd love owners whose sole focus is on our club not other clubs who have no link to Manchester. For me our owners global ambitions have been put ahead of heritage of our club. Fans who have supported the club for a long time have been put to the back of the queue. The club has become a mirror image of everything I hated United and Liverpool for. If we are found guilty I suspect the Premier League and its member clubs will be pushing for changes in our ownership. The club is at a crossroads. They need to make sure they don't lose a connection with us so called legacy fans. Peoples patients was being tested by the way we are treated by the club even before the poor run started...

Well we all know who is to blame then.

Soriano out? -:)

Also don’t forget we allegedly cook the books so who knows what is really going on and who runs what.

Why would this Summer be the key? The case has been ongoing since Feb 2023 and for years before. Unfortunately the reason we haven't bought enough is far simpler than the charges

I interpret the major investments in the stadium, Co-op Live, infrastructure, Silverlake's increased shareholding, and Pep's new contract as a clear signal to our competitors that no matter what you do, we won't disappear. We'll come back stronger, and just as you say, it won't happen overnight. It took Juventus five seasons to get back to the top, and that's kind of the point—it will take as long as it takes.

But Juventus they were the top dog running the football over there

We all know Manchester City is not a powerhouse club in the Premier League and has little say in the rules and changes made., We also know United are the main power in the Premier League and don't want us building a history better than theirs,

100% if we are found guilty it will finish Manchester City and Sheik Mansour owning the club, they don't just want punishment us, but they want to finish us and make us that little old city again.

Forget the investment and infrastructure or shareholdings because they will be worthless if found guilty
The scariest thing is it could all end overnight and everything would be a major problem: Manchester City would be left penniless and all the money gone.

Yes the stadium will be finished and over 60.000 capacity, but we would never fill it in the championship and the corporate and hospitality would struggle and it would have to be closed because of the cost of running it on match days.

A Guilty Verdict would be a life sentence

Bloody hell you must be a scream at parties!

For my part I think all of that prediction to be untrue.

Cheered me up no end….

I'm not aware of (a) any threat by City to CAS or (b) any other body we could have gone to.

The appeal route from UEFA is to CAS and CAS only. There are narrow grounds to appeal to the Swiss courts following a CAS outcome but they are very specific. This is maybe what you're thinking of. I don't think there's been many appeals though and I also believe there's never been a successful one against a case heard by CAS .

You've got this wrong mate and when people like slbsn are telling you you're wrong then it's best to listen.
Just checked CAS FAQ

Is it possible to appeal against a CAS award ?

Judicial recourse to the Swiss Federal Tribunal is allowed on a very limited number of grounds, such as lack of jurisdiction, violation of elementary procedural rules (e.g. violation of the right to a fair hearing) or incompatibility with public policy.
