Most misunderstood player in the game. Which is to be expected when football has become a game of boxscore watchers and stats merchants. But for me he is so precious because hes a throwback to a different, more romantic era of football. I love watching him play, hes Zidanesque in his movement, so elegant, so fluid. Just a joy to watch. But he should also be someone appreciated by the stats people because if you really get deep into more advanced stats, there is zero doubt that he significantly improves the probability to win in every game he plays. Fine, be a stats guy, but then at least don't be a superficial ignorant stats guy.

And that would show in the stats someway if it was true ! Anyway would love to see him back in the current team givewn its form / performances

I don't think they're giving him grief, they're ridiculing the notion that Grealish is in any way comparable to Zidane; which is assuredly ridiculous.

Interestingly, you said he doesn't play; and that's part of the problem. He's barely fit, and when he is he can't be trusted to contribute.
