Players who might improve us

Not necessarily this window, im talking summer as well.

For ex, Id be good with 1 CB and 1 fullback this window, then another CB and another fullback in the summer.

That fulfils bringing in the 4 defenders over time that I think we have to, and not hoping on the fitneee of others.
Now your saying not 3 CB but 2 over 2 windows and 2 fullbacks

I think some nuance is being lost here.

I consider one of "fullbacks" to also be a type of "centre back" like Akanji.

While the other is more attacking.

Hence 4 defenders, but 3 who more stay back and 1 who can join the midfield or attack.

We still have a massive rebuild to do, so not suggesting we put all our eggs in one basket, but I’d throw 500k a week at Salah and see if he’s tempted.

You want to sign a 32 year old on mammoth wages to spearhead a rebuild? Are you responsible for united signing Casemiro perchance?
He’s in the best form of his life, is never injured and is in fantastic shape. Brazilian players famously love to party and it shortens their careers. Plus Casemiro was always pretty slow.

I’d say there’s a less than 5% chance of getting Salah, but I’d take him here in a heartbeat. Easily got at least 3 years left.

Casemiro had just won a Champions League. Kyle walker was in the fifpro nominations for best 11 on the planet over the last 12 months just a few weeks back. Age can catch up with players very quickly.
Salah is never injured compared to Walker or KDB tho and every United signing flops. I think Salah has 2 years left.

For years, walker never got injured either, virtually nobody would have predicted the drastic and sudden decline from him. virtually nobody would have thought Gundogan would struggle to get to grips with the pace of this league again as much as he has.

Do I think Salah is about to drop off a cliff? No, but that doesn't mean he isn't. Nobody knows when it will happen, all we know is that it will definitely happen

While i don’t think it happens, a top level performer who doku/savinho can be understudy’s too for a few years would be ideal…

It's never happening, I wouldn't even object if it were though and I agree a consistent winger with guaranteed output replacing grealish would help us immensely.

my post was mainly just highlighting the contradiction in starting a rebuild with somebody who is 32 and would need replacing again before the rebuild is even complete.

Doesn't he play on the opposite side to Grealish?
Yes but my point was intentionally non-specific to Salah but instead a larger point about having an established and consistent winger regularly producing for us as we are not signing Salah in any reality. That hypothetical winger could play on either side.

we can't bring in another winger without losing one first. We see foden, nunes and bernardo out wide but none of those are actual wingers. we currently have 4 of them, Bobb, doku and savinho are all under 23 and aren't going anywhere anytime soon so the only logical one would be grealish and even that's highly unlikely as we'd struggle to find a taker.
