PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Take your time.

I'm not saying this has ever been a sticking point to me. My phone is made via slave labor and I probably buy a shit ton of stuff that's tied to some type of international evil as well, but im not going to claim the UAE is some glorious haven of democracy just because one of their higher-ups bankrolled us winning the Champions League.
ah another person who lives in the west and genuinely believes that the middle east is an awful place and the west is a bastion of free speech and no human rights abuses or bad things ever happen here, those in power are up to their eyes in it no matter where they come from and its just a nice easy way to distract people from all the nonsense that happens in plenty of places apart from the middle east.

Agree with your point - apart from the problem ethic-wise about being taken over by the UAE consortium

They have been a breath of fresh air in Manchester & envisaged the damage the cartel were going to do to the PL. They’re the only owners with the guts to challenge the red cartel.

From a footballing perspective, I agree completely. They've done wonders for the city and for the club and they've managed to disrupt the monotony and monopoly of that fabled "top 4".

Again, I'm not saying that having the club bankrolled by the vice president of the UAE is a sticking point to me, I'm just saying that if we're discussing the morality of the clubs management, the sticking point should have been a lot earlier than saying its now.

The UAE culture is definitely debatable but having been several times, I’d say Abu Dhabi is the safest state & possibly not as severe as some of the others. - and not nearly as dodgy as Trump :-)

Had I said any of that horseshit, you'd have a point.

thats assuming he didnt actually hold a consultancy role within abu dhabi, im not sure why the idea of him or anybody else holding two similar positions is such a mind blowing concept, but yes if thats what it was used for it could be used as a creative way of topping up his salary but so could a multitude of other ways so it doesnt effectively mean anything.

Maybe Stefan, Simon & Jim can discuss how many different companies they get freelance / consultancy work from ;)

That's fair.

My original comment was in reference to someone saying their support of the club would waver if we were found to be cheating.

My ultimate point is that my football choices aren't rooted in any sense of morality

you were discussing the morality of the clubs management tbf , i was just making the point that if we were discussing the morality of the clubs management should also discuss the morality of literally every single club owner as they are no less or more culpable than any other set of owners.

I worked for a large IT consultancy that had a very well-defined culture, and it was important that people were a good fit for that culture. For that reason, the first part of what could be a full day of 4 or 5 different interviews was a relatively informal 45-minute chat we called 'the hotel test'.

Basically it boiled down to whether you'd feel comfortable working away from home on a client site, and staying in a hotel with them for 6 months. If you got bad vibes then you'd end the interview process there and then.
If successful then whisked off to a strip club?

I'm not contesting any of it, I'm saying it's not my concern as a Manchester City fan.

Someone argued that they might struggle supporting the club if they were found to be cheating. I just said that if morality was a concern, there were earlier points at which to break off.

my apologies , i didnt see that bit, u r correct and lets be honest, we support the club not the custodians of it, if i was bothered who was in charge, id of stopped supporting when alan ball was manager lol

well the assumption there is that we were paying him twice and that his consultancy role with abu dhabi was a sham, in which case the accounts we submitted would not be accurate and therefore would be false accounting.
There was no FFP in 2009 so no reason to hide any expenses.
I also ask my red supporting friends about how a payment of £1.7m in 2009 helped City win the PL in 2018. The response is usually along the lines of "no comment".

It's always the same. The moment you ask them to get even slightly granular with it, the best you're getting back is "well you're obviously cheating".

The discourse hasn't even been about guilty/not guilty, it's just been people fantasising about how ridiculous the punishments can get.

I saw someone claiming they could hold a retroactive open top bus for Gerrard as the 2014 PL would be given to Liverpool

Honestly, Amnesty International could have stepped in at any point during that last Stuart Pearce season in 06/07.

tbf i think its nice they are giving care in the community folk access to the internet

It's funny how the Premier League, Sorry United want to fuck us over for cheating ? United do their cheating in the open and in clear daylight and nobody blinks an eye, The latest Cheating was the £75million in allowances when PSR was breached,

Manchester City must blow the whole system wide open to have any chance of winning, Let's start fighting back and calling them out, For a start nobody else got that amount of allowances and even other clubs got turned down for adding anything over £2million,

Also, Why has nobody bought up the rising debt? that under the rules should be reduced over 3 years,
plus annual losses over 3 years is a breach, Now, Why has the Premier League not opened a case against United because of failing Uefa FFP and false accounting found.

Nothing is ever going to change until Manchester City blow the fucking doors off the whole system
The £35 million allowance utd got for COVID is simply utd abusing the system, and all clubs should demand the same allowance, especially the ones that failed FFP. Pretty sure the £40 million allowance utd got for a share sale is new, and not been voted on by the PL members, certainly it would be a perversion of any rule in the book. So all the members need to know who authorized this allowance, did they have the authority to do so, why this allowance was not put to the vote. Platini was prosecuted for taking an unauthorized loan, by these Americans.
The Press silence speaks volumes.
