Get him on loan now
The point I’m trying to make is that when it comes to issuing a work permit to play football in the PL, it should not matter WHICH TEAM!I think it was slightly more objective and had something to do with the relative position of his wages in the squad.
Still not the best way of determining how much of a star you are signing I agree.
Relative wages and fee have a big say- bumped up the argument points for the permit. We couldn't really do anything for the feeI think it was slightly more objective and had something to do with the relative position of his wages in the squad.

How is it a fuck up? Denied the work permit but you think we should have kept him around as an unpaid club mascot or something?

You either can or cannot, but choosing teams is not a level playing field.
Fucking socialism!!It isn't set 'by team' though. It is by where the player sits in the percentage of top earners, to qualify for a work permit.
Say 150k a week with us he is probably in the top 50%, and wouldn't qualify, we would have had to pay well over that to get him in the top bracket of (far more established) earners. 150k at Villa he would have at the time have been in the top 10% and he qualifies.
Agree on the principle though, it should have been a set number for the wage, rather than a percentage relative to overall wages. But those were the rules at the time. Not the PL rules btw, the government rules set by the home office.
The longer the window get's neat the deadline the more desperate Juve will be to get him off the wage bill. They want a loan+ obligation.. of around 35m. And City sold him for 25m£ to Villa plus had a like 8m£ sell-on clause when Villa sold to Juve in the summer that they tried to lower to as little as possible with dodgy player swap type to even get it that low.
Theres totally different price tags reports around the all from 21m£ to 42m£ the deal run the summer but since it included other players I think Juves price tag now of around 35m-40m euros is more closely the figure and they will probably take that price in a loan + obligation deal now.
I dont think they will do a straight loan.

Nottingham Forest enquire about loan deal for Douglas Luiz
SIMON JONES: Douglas Luiz, who plays for the same club as his girlfriend, Alisha Lehmann, has played just 13 times for Juventus this season and could already be on his way out of the club.www.dailymail.co.uk

I still have hope.
It's probably him or Rovella that is easily-er gettable, and a similar price tags as well.
Loan not so sure about a permanent deal.I’d have him back.
Not Always but was great at VillaHasn’t this guy always been mint? Is it just work permit issue that stopped us from getting him back? What happened at Villa? Thought they wanted him to stay there

They had to sell to comply financially.
I’d have him here, good player. Maybe not a starter but better - and more dynamic - than what we currently have.
and we'll have to buy the mrs. so another few mill on that. Not an altogether unrealistic deal in all honesty.
He would definitely do a very good job for us in Rodri’s absence and good back up when he’s back.
Juve paid £45 million for him last season but clearly not worth that now given how things have gone and the lad wants out.
I reckon loan and commitment to £30 million would be good business for us.
She's not super loyal to one team though. Hopefully that hasn't worn off on Luiz if he rejoins us.Never took to this guy. Not bad just standard. Not a City player for me, though he comes with a nice girlfriend.
