It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

Only if you are talking goalies. Studies have shown the peak year of a footballer to be 27. If you look at most any squad you will find their average age to be between 26 and 27.
The studies aren't reflective though as they take into account all players at all levels and they mainly focus on maximum physical performance.
Squad average ages take into account economic valuations as well as performances so it's a bit more complicated than this. Traditionally, "prime" was considered 28-32 though I could see that getting a year younger due to more physical nature of football now. But the other guy's idea of prime being 23-27 is just fucking bonkers.

Agree with this. High level players with the best sports science around them no reason the prime can’t be up to 32 still. Just as long as they don’t play 75 games a season!

But like you say the other poster saying that young is ludicrous and just isn’t correct.

With Walkers asking to leave, interesting who is the target in rb.

I doubt it Khusanov will be a rb, maybe we will endure with Lewis/Akanji there

Would be good to see Ted Knutson update his old work on the footballer aging curves. He talked about it on the 9320 pod last year. I think Statsbomb based it on outputs per role & minutes in top 5 leagues rather than just physical performance.

That would concern me but Walker is no longer the player he was and it is clear we need a right back. Lewis / Akanji are not the regular solution imho but may be a short term solution so a rb needs adding to the wish list but .... how long have people been saying that about the need for a left back. Wtf do I know :-)

Exactly so. You could have added - no DM, no cover for CF, 3 out of 4 CBs regularly injured, an increasingly legless, ageing MF core of Gundo, KDB, Kova & Bernie plus Foden & Grealish just not at it.
Pep is out of aces and a third of January gone with no new recruits yet and not a sniff of a desperately needed DM.
Forget last night - it's looking very bleak for us right now.

Juventus would never agree for just a plain 6 month loan. His transfer hasn’t worked out, he wants to go and Juve would only look for something permanent in January or a loan with obligation to buy
I would be happy to commit to about 30m obligation and buy Zubamendi in the summer to be honest.
Just my opinion but I would love a two man midfield with Rodri, Luiz and Zubamendi rotating. Theres no way Rodri can come back and play as often as he did.
