Aussie Aussie Aussie begins now / tonight!
Prepare for pages and pages of irrelevant Raducanu updates.

Should be an interesting shootout between Sinner, Alcaraz and Zverev. Can’t see beyond the three for the men’s winner. Will Zverev be able to overcome that mental block and finally claim a major?

By far favourites, but I'm of course hoping for a US breakthrough. Fritz has never been seeded higher, so this is his chance to step up. UK's Draper and other US men's players seeded in the teens could maybe make waves too. One can hope. :-)

And, As you know I am no fan of Joker, but I am intrigued by his new coach Andy...

Fritz had an amazing season last year so it will be interesting to see if he can push on this year.

I'll never forget him taking on the partisan crowd in Paris a couple of years ago. That was entertaining :)

Draper with another comeback win, seems to be handling the long matches a bit better than last year.

Fearnley also through and plays Zverev in R3.
Finally got to watch the Draper match today, and that was one gutsy comeback against that overly raucous partisan crowd and the big serve Kokkinakis. The fourth set down 4-5 and to win 7-5 was something to see with those winners.

Nice post-match interview with Johnny Mac too...

A few big upsets thus far with some young players stepping up, but none involving key players I'm cheering on.

Zverev is looking quite impressive thus far.

Outstanding wumming from the American here, both on court and in her comments afterwards, giving it to the Aussies.
Excellent stuff :-)

Medvedev just lost at about 3am or something stupid in a final set 10 point tie break. Got to be honest, not really heard of the opponent, Learner Tien from USA.

Other than Fritz, cant really see anyone else troubling Sinner now in that side of the draw.
Just finished watching the 19 year old Tien vs. Medvedev match from this AM. Don't think I've seen a match that good with so many amazing shots by both players in a long time. Lefties are tough, and Tien brought it big time with those forehand aggressive winners. Kudos for Medvedev for battling back from 0-2 sets down, and that 5th set with the 4 breaks was just so suspenseful.

I'm very behind on tonight's (tomorrow AM's for the UK) tennis watching as a result, but wow, was that worth it.

Back later once I catch up, hopefully tomorrow! :-)

Not a bad haul for a player that announced her retirement last year, then had a change of plans after the US Open. As she said in the post-match presser, the Aussies just funded her next big beach trip with her girlfriends. Loved it!

Will be interesting to see if there's a crowd hangover with her when she plays Madison Keys next. That should be a good match too.

With work and the timings of the matches, I've not had time to sit down and watch any yet - just see the odd bit of matches as I'm passing through the lounge!

I was sad to see Tomas Etcheverry go out - I saw him live in the Davis Cup at in Manchester in September and he looks a good player. Just shows you how good these guys are when he's only good enough for the world top 30.

Levels upon levels

Brilliant, well done Draper. that was a horrible watch. but he dug in once again against a home crowd for the Aussie.

I've had a bit of luck being able to watch on mute while work calls go on is all I will fess up to... ;-)

Plenty in the evening on DVR too, though I have caught up today with a lack of drama in most matches this side of Draper. Tough ask vs. Alcaraz next.

He lost to Marcos Giron of the US, who is having a nice start to the tourney, and that match was close too. Giron will have another tough ask with Sinner up next.

I'd be very happy if Fritz and Shelton get to meet up, and I'm interested to see Moutet vs. "the kid" 19 year old Tien. I know that last match may have taken a lot out of him, but those two both play a pretty cagey game, so it could be quite entertaining.

And for the obligatory note... I'd be happy if Raducanu took out Świątek in an upset. I also think Jabeur and Navarro could be an entertaining match as well.
